My experience with Worldpackers in the shelter was unforgettable. I joined a school program with children and a the shelter rescue program. I stayed with Nilu and Didul who are incredibly kind and welcoming. The home-cooked the shelter Lankan food was delicious. At the school I spoke English with curious, happy children and learned as much from them as they did from me. At the shelter rescue I cleaned tanks, fed and washed turtles, gaining real hands-on experience. Both programs are highly recommended for their impact, learning opportunities and warm-heart people. The really kind people make it special.

I volunteered for one week at the Sea the shelter Program and had an amazing experience. I helped with daily tasks such as cleaning the tanks, feeding the turtles and even being able to gently hold them. I was also able to witness the sea the shelter life cycle, from eggs in the sand to baby turtles hatching. One of the highlights was releasing baby turtles into the sea at sunset. Working so closely with these endangered animals was truly special and it felt great to give something back. Thank you for this unforgettable experience!

I had a lovely time during my stay with Nilanthi and Didul's family, they created a very safe and comfortable environment for me and another friend who was volunteering as well. With them we got to spend time with communities in Colombo, especially ones which had been greatly affected by the recent floods. We were able to see the connection that the family had with children in Wattala, and helped them create care packages and interact with multiple community during our time with them. It was an experience I will never forget. After this we went further south to Galle to work with turtle conser

This was a rewarding and enriching experience, staying with a wonderful family who welcomed me into their home graciously with warmth and generosity sharing their expertise on local culture and knowledge about the country. The work assisting the children with speaking English and movement through dance, supporting the teachers, was fulfilling and a way to give back and inspire the next generation. Thank you for a great experience!
