Yappers English Language Studio

The best way to explore a country is to immerse yourself in the culture and blend in among locals!
Our language studio promotes a fun and interactive program in which the volunteers have plenty of opportunities to talk to Koreans either in the conversation sessions or in outside activities.
Our members want to practice English and expose themselves to foreigners from all over the world, exchange cultures, and hanging out to show their side of South Korea!

We have a very mixed cummunity, composed by foreigns from all around the world and koreans who lived overseas for a while, so we are not just only familiar with English and even other languagues, but also with respecting and exchanging cultures throughout your stay! Our place and staffs are very laid back and welcome to have a good relationship with people, we all wish that our volunteers have wonderful memories during their stay in Korea and we enjoy to hang out together, sometimes hosting a party in order to get along with the local Koreans and get to know each other a bit more.

This was a really good experience ! Being able to speak with locals was such a great experience they were so nice and I learned so many things about Korean culture ! Being outside of Seoul is really nice to live a different experience but you are only 30min away from Seoul (Gangnam). If you organize yourself well you can have three days off and discover other cities but you have to say it in advance ! Everyone was really nice and I made so many good memories !

I really enjoyed my stay here! The work was easy enough, just having conversations with students a few hours a week and I was able to make good friendships as well! The academy is close to Seoul so it was easy to visit many places! I really loved my time with the other volunteers too; enjoying nights out, going for dinner, and having movie nights! I had initially only planned on staying here a few weeks but after having such a good time, I asked Scarlett if I could stay longer and she was nice enough to make room for me to extend my trip! Thanks again and I can't wait to come back again soon!!

Communication could have been clearer from the start. I was not informed before arrival that I’d be placed in the boys’ dorm, nor about the 10,000-won fee or a contract that needed signing. Meetings were canceled at the last minute, and house and studio rules weren't explained until my fourth day, which caused confusion about expectations. Basic supplies like toilet paper and detergent were unavailable for several days, requiring me to use my own or other facilities. I also observed divisions in the apartment that made interactions uncomfortable. I cannot recommend this experience.

This experience will give you the opportunity to actually get to know Korean people, culture and language. The other teachers, as well as the students are lovely and I had lots of fun during my two months here. Truly enjoyed working at the academy and also spending my free time in Bundang, its a cool area. Be prepared for a lot of going out (if you want), soju guaranteed!
I have made some really great friendships and am very grateful for my experience here.

There were many problems. First being that even after NUMEROUS reminders, the bathroom lock for the boys room was never fixed (broken way before I got there). There was a hidden ₩10000 fee for supplies, and a contract (neither was discussed until I arrived and settled down). We went days without toilet paper or detergent in the whole living space (mind you Scarlett lives with us). Worst was the gossip/toxic environment (I couldnt go to her about this since she was a part of the clique). K (the owner) needs to find someone better to replace Scarlett as she is very disorganized and irresponsible
