Iam Tom, having lived all of my life abroad in various countries, I came to Guatemala in 2010 after travelling Latin America and ended up putting roots down at Lake Atitlan. This dream came into being in 2022, after buying a piece of land in 2013 in beautiful Tzununa and beginning to experiment with art, sustainable building and recycling. Selling handmade jewellery for many years all over the world i was able to save some cash to begin the project, slowly but surely Trece Cielos was created. Focused on internal growth, art and sustainability and not to mention love. Trece has become a place where people can come home to themselves, connect with like minded souls and take time out from a busy world. We are situated right in the heart of Tzununa where the hustle and bustle surrounds our tranquility. Volunteers who decide to come and spend time with us will be helping closely with our local team helping to serve our visitors in exchange for room and board during shift hours with full access to all services available. We are a team dedicated to serve through love.

I loved staying at Trece Cielos there is so much free time. It is also a perfect place to explore. There are a ton of small towns all around. The hosts are extremely welcoming and kind. Overall amazing experience.

I had a wonderful time at trece cielos! Tom, Iulia and also the lovely local girls working in the kitchen create an amazing atmosphere to slow down and enjoy the beautiful Lake Atitlán. This is not just a café, it’s a community hotspot and the most amazing place to meet beautiful people. The work is clear - and honestly really fun - and after your shift you can take a little break from the buzz in your own private room. Just one warning if you choose to volunteer here, you might not want to leave anymore (and develop a slight cacao addiction ;))

I couldnt reccomend this experience more to travellers who are looking for a social but still slow paced volunteer experience !! Tom has created a magical space within this café that provides a safe haven felt by everyone, whether guest or volunteer- the beauty of this place is a nonstop topic of conversation - the warmth and kindness tom also provides to every person who comes into this space is something i will remember for a lifetime. MUCH much love to our kitchen girls as well- jacinta, lucia & cruz, who are some of the most sweet and curious (even if shy) local girls ❤️

Hola,
Recomendado 💯!

I have trouble finding any words that can reflect even the tiniest bit of what this place, and Tom in particular, has ment to me. After travelling through Latin America for 10 months, this has been the absolute best experience I ever had. Coming to Trece Cielos was like coming home. And meeting Tom was like meeting family. This cafe is so much more that just a cafe - it is the anchor of the whole community. I could write a whole book and words would still not be enough to tell you how much I recommend you to apply for volonteering at this café. Tom - I love you, thank you for everything.
