Share your culture make friends in Daejeon, Korea

We have a 2 room apartment which has 1 bathroom, kitchen and the living room. It is just 10 minutes away from the cafe on foot which means you don't have to spend your money for travelling to go and come.

Everything is shared in the accommodation including rooms , bathrooms, kitchen and the living room. In there, we also share the laundry machine, air condition, water purifier, microwave, toaster, and all the cooking utensils.

We provide you with enough food and ingredients at the accommodation. Here are what we provide: rice, cereal, bread, ramen, eggs, oils, sugar, salt and almost all of the kitchen utensils.

We are a world cultural exchange cafe, so we prefer people who can speak English well as an official language. It is a cafe for Koreans who want to exchange culture with foreigners and build good friendships. Anyone interested in diverse cultures is welcome. We all have different nationalities, so it's really important to respect each other. Even if English is not your first language, you can talk to Koreans in English on interesting topics and share ideas, so it's not a big deal if you have a good English proficiency level. My staff, including myself, are always considerate of you and listen to your voice :) I will try to accommodate your needs!

This wasu first volunteering experience and I couldn't be happier. Russell is an amazing host, everything was clearly communicated and communication was strong through my whole experience. I really enjoyed the language studio as there is a broad spectrum of ages, reasons to study and I doing everyone to be engaging and really immersed in the experience. I would highly recommend this place for meeting people, locals and other travellers.

I had such a good time volunteering in Daejeon! You get to meet lots of locals, so it’s a great opportunity to learn all about korean culture. I’d definitely do it again!

My experience in Daejeon was really good. The city itself is very chill and well connected so it’s super easy to go and visit another city whilst using Daejeon as a base. The volunteers create the rota so you can request the days off that you want. Russell is really friendly and make sure you have everything for your stay. He provides food upon request so you can cook meals for yourself. The work itself is pretty easy but I would recommend it for more extroverted people as you do have to keep a conversation going with someone for 50 mins

We spent 2 weeks here and enjoyed it a lot. The volunteers make the schedule so you can decide what days you work, and it’s in a great area to do day trips to other places. The work is fun and the students you talk to are very interested to hear about your lives.

Just fyi - it is you leading the conversation for 50 mins. It is an informal chat so you don’t get “trained” and aren’t a “teacher”. So you need to be an extrovert that likes to listen and talk. But the chat is very enjoyable :)

Daejeon has amazing hiking just 30 mins away, the best and cheapest thrift shops, amazing bakeries.

An amazing oportunity. The job was so easy going and I learned a lot about korean culture with the students. The food provided by Russell was good and it was so good to have a full equiped kitchen. The rest of the volunteers were amazing and I made really good friends here.
I loved the experience and I fully recommend it:)
