Rinjani Terrace

My name is Opan, and I represent of young tourism community in a small village in Lombok we call is Lendang Nangka Village. Lendang Nangka is a Sasak Village surrounding by picturesque countryside. Lendang Nangka Village is already exist welcoming travelers around the world and already exist in Lonely Planet Book. I grew up here in this village and deeply care about the future of my village, especially how tourism can develop in a responsible and sustainable way.

Together with local youth, I started community initiatives to raise awareness about tourism among local people, not only as an economic opportunity, but also as a responsibility to protect our culture, environment, and way of life. One of our main goals is to prepare the younger generation to feel confident welcoming visitors from around the world.

Through Worldpackers, I invite international volunteers to support our vision. With their help, we are building English classes for village children, creating a fun and supportive learning space where kids can practice language skills and learn about different cultures. This helps them gain confidence and opens new opportunities for their future.

Another important focus of our project is environmental awareness, especially addressing the plastic waste problem in the village. Together with volunteers and local youth, we organize simple campaigns, clean-up activities, and education programs to encourage better waste management and a cleaner environment.

This project is not about fast tourism, it is about community growth, education, and sustainability. By working together with volunteers, we exchange knowledge, build friendships, and take small but meaningful steps toward a better future for our village.

I'm Opan. You can expect to be treated as a valuable collaborator and part of a mission-driven team. We're dedicated to a communal and educational environment where we all work together towards a greener future.

I absolutely loved my time in Rinjani Terrace! Every thing is very flexible with the volunteering and hours of “work”. Opan and his friends are also so lovely! In the freetime you’ll have the time to explore waterfalls and area! I would have stayed longer if I didn’t have a pre booked onward ticket. It’s also so inspiring to see what they do for their local community, with permaculture projects and learning kids english! Absolutely recommend!

I managed to meet Opang and really make the difference teaching English to local children. During my free time oppang managed to organize a lot of activities for me and for the other World Packers where we discovered the local people and see all the beautiful things of the Lombok island. I meet good friends and I will definitely come back. I felt like making really the difference

I had a great time volunteering at rinjani terrace! It was really interesting to learn about it permaculture and sustainable farming, as well as integrating with local village life. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, I was invited to so many fun events and trips. The work is not too strenuous and very flexible, I even had the chance to teach English at the school next door. Overall I would definitely recommend this to people looking for a local experience and becoming part of a family in Lombok while learning about sustainability!

Joanna was an amazing volunteer!
She was always helpful, respectful, and willing to learn. She worked well with the team and brought a positive energy to our project. We really appreciated her hard work in the garden and around the property. We would happily host her again. Highly recommended!
