Pension Santa Elena - Monteverde hostel
We offer an opportunity to experience local life in the mountains of Costa Rica! Our historic hostel is a casual, friendly space in the very center of Santa Elena, Monteverde. We receive thousands of travelers each year-- from solo travelers, to backpacking couples, to families on long holidays with their kids. Our diverse clientele values a chill, cozy, central accommodation to have as home base while they explore the region's cloud forests and experience the adventurous activities of Monteverde.
Our small, close-knit team is looking for some volunteers to join us and help out around the hostel in reception. You'll become part of our little family and treated like a true member of the team. We're looking for someone with positive energy, respect for our space & team, and excitement for life! Volunteers live on-site and receive 2 meals per day!

Great first Worldpackers experience! The facilities/accommodations were clean, comfortable, and definitely a significant step up from your average hostel. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and the location is right in the center of Santa Elena so you are minutes from stores/cafes/restaurants. I don’t really have any criticisms. The only thing I would be mindful of is that this is a very chill job with a lot of down time. The hostel is also quiet and less social than others. This wasn’t a problem for me (I could read/work during shifts) but I could see some being bored by this.

I had an amazing experience at Pension Santa Elena! It was great to get to know the other workers and volunteer. The place was clean and had a good atmosphere. The working hours were agreed days before but the hosts were flexible and I was able to change my shift to match my free days with the other volunteer! The work was fun and relaxed. It was at a great location in Santa Elena and I was able to go to different tours nearby and La Fortuna, which was a big plus!

This hostel is a home for me. Thank you all for hosting and welcoming me with such open arms. Monteverde is a beautiful place and the community is incredible. I love spending time here and have made great friends, routines, and memories during my time here. It’s a great space for me to offer yoga and create deep meaningful friendships as well. So much love to PSE <3
