Osimi (Omah Sinau Migunani)

Because the volunteer can help us to teach our students to learn English and other international languages. They can also help us to motivate our students to study and know other cultures.

I am an English teacher in a private school and my wife is doing some online bussiness. Now, she also teaches students how to read and count in our house as a private teacher. She is helped by three other teachers. after completing their program to learn how to read and count at our house (The private course), some of the students will continue to learn English or math so we need the volunteers to help them to practice speaking English. They also can help us to teach English the junior high school students in the private school where I am teaching. We live with our mother and our two daughters. The volunteers will stay with us. we have two rooms that can be used by the volunteers. We try to treat them as our family. We try to do our best to treat them as a family. The volunteers can also enjoy their free time to visit some places that are interesting for them, hopefully.

What an awesome experience!
I really felt like I had an impact by helping students improve their English and teaching them new things about my culture. In exchange, the students taught me Javanese and Indonesian, as well as their local traditions.
Niha and Emha were wonderful hosts. Always smiling and making sure I felt at home. They were incredibly generous, patient and respectful.
Thanks to them I was able to learn more about Temanggung. For instance exploring the tofu and tobacco production.
The local people are super friendly and always making sure you feel welcomed. Loved it!

Definitely home away from home!!!

It was an experience that touched my heart deeply. From the moment I arrived, I was embraced with warmth and hospitality that made me feel like home.
Teaching their students was a joy. The children were so sweet, making each lesson engaging and rewarding. The family's support extended beyond the classroom, offering insights into local traditions, cuisine, and daily life, enriching my understanding of Javanese culture.

Thanks for everything again my friends!! See you soon.

True immersive experience in the local culture. The host and all the family is incredibly kind and generous which I was very touched and sensitive. I also felt listened and respected in the culture difference. I felt more part of the family after one day than with other people I know for a long time. Food was tasty and exactly how I like. I would just have wished to have more exchange about the mission in advance to know more about the organization because I like to know where I m going 😉

Staying with a local family during Eid was one of the most meaningful experiences of my travels. I was welcomed with open arms and treated like part of the family. Being there during the holiday allowed me to truly experience local life—meeting extended family, visiting neighbors, and being invited into home after home with endless generosity. The food was incredible and nonstop, and I learned so much about the culture, traditions, and rhythm of village life. It was fun, heartwarming, and completely unique. I’ll always remember the kindness, the laughter, and the connections I made here.

I'm incredibly grateful for the chance to volunteer at Migunani. I had so much fun to say the least. The host family treated me like one of their own, I really felt so at home and happy here. I love their simple lifestyle, and they are the sweetest, kindest people. I truly enjoyed getting to know their students and really appreciate the diverse experiences I had there getting to visit other schools, witnessing a cassava, soy, and tempe production, visiting a koi farm and getting to feed the koi. I've grown so attached to this family, and the food is so delicious! I highly recommend.
