I loved my time at the Mariposario. Alberto and the rest of his family truly made me feel at home. The food was great, and I felt like I was contributing to meaningful work on their Mariposario. I learned so much about Tico culture and butterflies. This was truly an incredible experience I would reccomend to anyone seeking to reconnect with nature and contribute to a sustainable project in a meaningful way.

I had an amazing experience at Vida de Colores! Alberto and his family were incredibly welcoming and committed to making sure I had a valuable experience. I loved learning about all of the butterflies, caterpillars, and plants, and well as learning about local wildlife. If you are volunteering during the rainy season make sure you come prepared with an umbrella and rain jacket as well as shoes that can get dirty. I am also very appreciative that they catered to my vegan dietary restriction and all of the food was delicious! Thank you so much to everyone at Vida de Colores!

I stayed at the Mariposario for almost 1 month. I have learned so much about butterflies and wildlife here. The family is very welcoming and showed us around, took us to sunsets and other beautiful places. The work is easy and flexible but needs attention as you are surrounded by butterflies. It is a very interesting experience. I had the chance to share this experience with other volunteers which allowed me to connect socially. Also having 3 days of allows you to explore other places and move around wich is really nice.
Definitely recommend, however keep in mind it is quite remote ;)

Alberto’s family and friends were amazing, they treat you like you are a part of their family and always check in on you. They taught us a lot about Tico culture, and helped me with my Spanish vocabulary. They took us to pretty and memorable places in the area. I made a lot of connection both with the locals and international travellers. We had lots of fun hanging out with them. the work that you do really connects you to nature and is enjoyable and easy I miss them already and would definitely recommend them!
