Malee's Animal Shelter

You would make a huge difference in the life of our dogs and Malee the owner!
Our shelter is the only one in the area. This means you would support not just us, also the community.
We are trying to give our volunteers an experience they never forget.
You will be a big part of the team, but also have enough time for yourself, to explore the area and enjoy Thailand.

Malee opened this shelter about 11 years ago with her partner, who was also the main sponsor. Unfortunately he passed away beginning 2022. Malee is doing the hard work mainly by herself since, with help of 1-2 staff members. The shelter has about 300 stray dogs and 30 cats. Malee has dedicated her life to these animals. She even goes out every night to feed the stray dogs in her area. As a volunteer you would be treated like a family member/ friend!

This experience at malee shelter was amazing. I did end up cutting my stay short to head back to the U.S. I loved being of service to the animals and helping them around in my area. Malee is so sweet and accommodating always making sure you’re good, happy, and well fed. She is a great cook! The dogs steak your heart almost instantly. It was nice to have my own space to decompress. There are great places to walk by her house. It felt like a new way of living and it did take some adjusting. When my day came to leave I found myself missing it as I got on the bus. I highly recommend Malees

I spent 5 weeks at malees shelter and had the most amazing time, my job mostly included feeding the dogs and cleaning the dog areas, which was lots of fun being around all the lovely animals. Malee, Ken and their staff were very catering and made the experience 10 times more memorable, I had lots of time off from working and was able to have lovely days off, exploring the local area. Thank you so much malee for a lovely and memorable time!

Although it can get a bit monotonous at times because there isn't much to do near the shelter and the work there is is relatively short, it's an unforgettable experience. Malee is an incredible guest, super attentive and understanding, and a great person, as is the rest of her staff. All the dogs are super friendly and will be delighted to have you with them.
