Malee's Animal Shelter

You would make a huge difference in the life of our dogs and Malee the owner!
Our shelter is the only one in the area. This means you would support not just us, also the community.
We are trying to give our volunteers an experience they never forget.
You will be a big part of the team, but also have enough time for yourself, to explore the area and enjoy Thailand.

Malee opened this shelter about 11 years ago with her partner, who was also the main sponsor. Unfortunately he passed away beginning 2022. Malee is doing the hard work mainly by herself since, with help of 1-2 staff members. The shelter has about 300 stray dogs and 30 cats. Malee has dedicated her life to these animals. She even goes out every night to feed the stray dogs in her area. As a volunteer you would be treated like a family member/ friend!

Although it can get a bit monotonous at times because there isn't much to do near the shelter and the work there is is relatively short, it's an unforgettable experience. Malee is an incredible guest, super attentive and understanding, and a great person, as is the rest of her staff. All the dogs are super friendly and will be delighted to have you with them.

I had an epic time at Malee's animal shelter everybody was so nice and welcoming and the dogs were all so nice. Malee is an amazing person and she cares so much about everyone. She knows every dogs name and truly cares about them. The cats are also super nice and love people too. I loved my time here so much I even extended my stay because I love it so much. Can only highly recommend♥️

Good experience at Malee's shelter. Really enjoyed working with the dogs and enjoyed the side quests Malee would take us on. The tasks are very simple and not really explained to you. I had to be taught by another volunteer who also had to figure it out themselves. The accommodation is good but basic as expected. The dogs make it all worth it and are definitely worth visiting. Overall would recommend but could improve some points

I really enjoyed my stay at the shelter. Marlee was always nice and took us on little adventures.The work was simple and you can figure out your own routine, since there are no fixed times when to start.Most of the dogs are nice and want love,but it can get quite overwhelming with so many dogs barking.On top of that I got bitten which was none of Marlees or anyones foult.It was an accident that had a major impact on my stay.I would still recomend this experiance to anyone, but get some information online.I wasnt prepared and I felt really hopeless not knowing how to protect myself afterwards.

From the moment i arrived at the shelter everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Malee is such a sweet and caring woman. You can really feel that she loves all the dogs so much and really does everything for them to have the best possible lives. all the dogs love and respect her, they listen when she tells them to be quiet.
It is a good feeling you get when you help, you really feel like you make an impact. Both for the dogs, but also for Malee and the staff by being able to some of the work they usually do.
If you love dogs, I can only highly recommend this <3
