La Selva

Hi! I am Adrian, I have a little farm in Salobrena, the tropical coast of Granada, with 4500 square meters of fruit trees. The main production is Chirimoya, Aguacate and Banana. I also have Papaya, Guayaba, Mango, Caqui, Pomelo, Lemon, Mandarins, Oranges, figes, granadas.

The Granada coast is known for the tropical fruits, thanks to the long summer we have with mild temperatures during the whole year. The only trees in the land prepared for production are the chirimoyas, the rest of the trees are in the surrounding of the land creating beautiful wild spaces, and that's the reason why I call it La Selva (the jungle).

Salobrena village is 1km, and the beach is 3 km from my land. And only an hour by bus to the beautiful and historic city of Granada.

You can expect to learn about tropical fruits ecological professional agriculture, construction and being independent with water and electricity system.

When you join our project, you will assist with daily tasks around the farm. Such as checking on the fruit trees and feeding the cats and chickens. Each day brings new opportunity, and we take your interests into account. The morning starts with a team meeting, where we discuss what we would like to accomplish for the day. Volunteers are encouraged to take on personal projects, we want you to pursue what interests you! Of course, there is always plenty to be done, and we will also have tasks that we can provide to you.

I am an easy going person. Personally I love doing yoga, functional exercise, and calisthenics. For me commitment is important, but also be happy, stay on time and be focused on what we do. Nestled among acres of farmland, you will be living in an oasis filled with fruit trees, sunlight, and good energy. Come contribute as we turn this place into a self-sustainable space that is healthy for the body and the soul.

Incredible experience all around and totally worth €25 a day. Adrián took great care of me, offering a cozy shared room with access to a shared kitchen and bathroom. The house is stocked with plenty of food, including fresh fruit and veggies straight from the garden. Waking up to the sound of birds and fresh air was truly refreshing. There’s always something going on, professional farmers pass by, and I learned so much about local culture and farming. The farm is perfectly located, just minutes from town and the beach. It’s overall an incredible place and I will definitely be going back!

Adrian offers a truly unique experience in a beautiful setting. He generously provides delicious, locally-sourced produce, as well as other staples. I have not eaten better anywhere else. The work is varied, which is something I loved. Every day was a new opportunity. Each morning, Adrian and I would discuss what work we wanted to do for the day, and he was receptive to my preferences. He did a great job of balancing what he wanted done and the projects I was personally passionate about. Adrian treated me the same as he treats his land, with immense love and respect.

This was a fantastic first WP experience!
Adrian truly lives out his values of sustainability/self-sufficiency through the use of recycled building materials, conscientious energy and water consumption, and seasonal and local produce. It’s a great place to do meaningful work, but also slow down and not focus on deadlines and productivity. The goal of the work is to improve life, not make money. Food is at the heart and brings a community vibe. There is so much delicious fresh fruit! We ate avocados and cherimoya every day, almonds and honey from the mountains, and fresh fish! I loved it!

This was my first experience with worldpackers.
Helping Adrian with his project was wonderful. I learned a lot about sustainability, gardening, and building. He has a great variety of eco-friendly fruits and vegetables. The work hours were perfect, and we often finished a bit early to help in the kitchen.
I had a bike available to explore the town and surroundings, and sometimes Adrian would take me along with him, where I met his friends and learn some Spanish.
I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to step away from the chaos, enjoy nature, and live simply! Thank you 🫶🏻
