Hostel Serena

To live some time in the cultural laidback village Samaipata, in beautiful and authentic Bolivia will give you great experiences! In and around Samaipata there is much to do! From the musea to beautiful nature. It´s important you speak English since most of our guests are foreigners, and reasonable Spanish. Welcome!

We´re a Bolivian-Dutch family with two children (5 and 7 years), we opened our hostel end october 2016 in Samaipata. Located on 10 minutes by foot from the main square and market, with a magnificent view over the green mountains and the village Samaipata.

I had a good time at Hostel Serena as it is very cozy and the property has plenty of nature to enjoy. There is always fresh veggies, rice, & pasta. Bert and his family are very welcoming and make a point of knowing all of the guests by name. The market is a 10 minute walk from the hostel. Make sure to bring enough cash because you cannot withdrawal money through xoom/remitly (there is an atm but the exchange rate is poor). Bert is understanding and as long as you communicate you’ll have a great time.
P.S. the view is spectacular (day & night)

We had a great time volunteering here. The hostel itself is lovely with loads of places to relax, there is a beautiful garden and the included breakfast is really nice. We enjoyed getting to know the owner Bert and he was fun to work with. The volunteer work was fair and not overly physical.

Bert has family commitments so sometimes needs you to watch the hostel whilst he is busy or out, this may be outside of your agreed hours but we didn't mind helping out.

Samaipata is a cute town with lots of good local hikes, cafes and a some good fruit and vegetable markets. We would recommend!
