HI Bergen Hostel Montana
Bergen Hostel Montana has launched a social volunteer program where young outgoing, enthusiastic people can volunteer. The volunteer undertakes activities such as: hikes (many...), games, barbecue, cultural kitchen, fishing, sightseeing, coffee (lots of...) and cookies, waffle baking, music - all in the name of cultural exchange and bringing people together. If you and our guests have other splendid ideas, you just bring them on!
We are a truly international staff. The volunteeers can expect to be treated with respect - and fun which will make it beneficial for all of us. The volunteers are NOT undertaking work that are otherwise been done by paid staff (e.g. cleaning etc.). We always have at least two volunteers at the same time.

My time volunteering here was an incredibly positive and fun experience. There were plenty of fun activities to do, so you definitely won’t get bored even in the low season, and the tasks were very easy. Majority of the time it didn’t feel like work at all. I really appreciated how kind and approachable the staff were, and having breakfast and lunch included was a huge plus and really convenient. Overall I would definitely recommend volunteering at the hi Bergen Hostel Montana :)

Volunteering at Hi Bergen Montana Hostels was an incredible experience! I loved being part of the hostel events, meeting amazing people, and enjoying the fantastic food. The activities were a highlight—Sunday hikes to Bonnehytten were breathtaking, and the ice skating followed by relaxing in the sauna was simply unforgettable. The atmosphere at the hostel was warm and welcoming, and I felt like part of the community from day one. Highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves adventure, great food, and making wonderful connections!

My experience at HI Hostel Montana was truly magical. From the first minute, everyone was so welcoming that I immediately felt at home. Each day offered something new and meaningful, from meeting incredible people from around the world to forming warm, genuine connections. The beautiful nature around Bergen made everything even more special, giving me endless freedom to explore, grow, and enjoy unforgettable moments. I honestly fell in love with the program and with Bergen, and I am already looking forward to the day I can return. I am truly thankful for everyone and everything.

had such a great time here! it's really a good deal, because basically the only tasks you have to do is all the fun stuff like doing cool activities (for free!) and being social with the guests (you'll meet many lovely people). I was here mid September and October and during this time you'll notice that less people will join the activities, but I quite liked the smaller groups. the only thing that could be better at the hostel is the food. I really had to cook some extra veggies for myself from time to time. but besides from that I have nothing negative to say about Montana! would recommend :)

Hostel Montana feels like home pretty soon and it gets better day by day. The beauty of the place is priceless. There is so much to do with the guests in and around Bergen and the job is so pleasant it doesn't feel like a job most of the time! The staff is incredibly friendly, whatever time of the day or night you will have someone lovely around to help you or to just have a chat with. Mats and Mari are kind and helpful, and Philine and Gergely were the best fellow volunteers I could have dreamt of. Special mention to Atle for adopting us and driving us around!
