I spend one month at Arben Selimaj guesthouse, and I had such a wonderful time. The surrounding nature is absolutely beautiful and you have a lot of time to go on hikes. The work is easy and consistent. Be prepared for a lot of peace and connecting with nature during your stay here! Thank you to Gaz, Arben and Fariah for welcoming me with open arms! I hope to return someday! :)

I had an incredible experience with the guesthouse. Gaze and his family are such wonderful people. Valbonë is truly stunning and has some incredible hikes. An amazing place to rest and recharge. I was there for a month and the food was always amazing. They care so much about their guest and volunteer experience. Very comfortable accommodation. Cannot rate them highly enough.

I’m so grateful for this experience! Arben, Faria, and Gaz are incredibly warm and kind people, and I felt comfortable at the guesthouse very quickly. The work is straightforward with a few hours in the mornings and evenings, leaving the days free to explore hikes around beautiful Valbonë. It’s clear a lot of love has gone into their business and it was a pleasure to be a part of - I’d return in a heartbeat!

My time volunteering at the guesthouse with the Selimaj family was something truly special. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed not just as a visitor or volunteer, but as a daughter. The warmth, the kindness, the laughter, the food (!!), the slow rhythm of life here — it all created a space where I could breathe deeply, live intentionally, and connect with people in the most genuine way.
The work was clear and fair, and I had lots of time to enjoy the beauty of the valley and hike. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Fariah, Arben, Gazi and Ana ❤️‍🔥

Disappointing. In two days, it became clear that the environment lacked respect for people, especially women. There was a noticeable difference in how men and women were treated—women were expected to cook, while men were not allowed in the kitchen. Gazmend’s father yelled at me, and his mother didn’t make me feel welcome either. The family identifies as conservative, but there’s a difference between cultural values and respect for others. I felt so unwelcome that I was hesitant to eat, despite being told I could. Though the place is beautiful, the atmosphere made the experience uncomfortable.

She came with her boyfriend and we agreed that only her will be volunteering and to her boyfriend I gave a fair price for staying in my place.. and the they asked for a private room because they didn’t want to stay in the volunteer’s room.. it was all fine and I made a good price for them aswell.. the thing is she was volunteering in my place and her boyfriend was a guest not a volunteer and the kitchen is not just for the womens Rafaela but the kitchen is just for the people who are working there not for everyone.. and then she asked to have 2 days off in a week but I saw it was clear that she didn’t came to volunteer but they came just to chill.. Me and my family respected every single person who came in our guesthouse and didn’t have a single problem till now.. Im very disappointed on them!
