Gharmikhola Agro Farm

We stay near Pokhara City, one of the most popular city of Nepal. We own a farm where we provide a room for volunteers. It is in a quiet place and natural surrounded with beautiful hills. We have a cow, goats, chickens, vegetables and crops at our farm.

I live on my farm with my wife and two children. We are welcoming volunteers to assist. My children go to school, the boy is at grade one and the girl at grade seven. My daughter can assist with Nepali language.

Tanka made sure my friend and I felt welcomed upon arriving. He's very nice, good friend.

Unfortunately we had to leave a bit early due to my friends visa expiring.

During our stay, the tasks were taking the dog for a walk & letting the chickens run free. The dog isn't well taken care of and chasing him down after he got off the leash was really stressful and scary, and not what I signed up for.

Since it's low season, there wasn't any family, any farm, or animals, just some chickens in a small cage, along with the dog, and not many tasks to do.

Worked with Tanka on his farm for a couple of weeks. It was an amazing way to get an insight into local farming and working with the land during the monsoon! Many thanks Tanka!

I had such a fun time volunteering at GarmiKhola Agro farm for the past two months. A wonderful opportunity to learn about nepal by staying with a wonderful family. I learned so much about caring for animals, trained the cow to graze, learned how to milk and process dairy, and how to plant corn and harvest potatoes. If you are interested about learning rice cultivation be there 4 rainy season! I would highly recommend staying here if you want a cultural exchange and a chance to live on a farm in nepal<3

I had an amazing two months (march-april) staying on the farm! I learned how to milk a cow, herd goats, plant corn, and lots of other fun farm tasks. There is plenty of free time between tasks during a day to relax, go walk, or swim (good river canyon ~15min walk south of the farm). I also loved taking the dog for walks up the hill to get a good view of the Himalayas. Tanka’s wife Asmita cooks very good dal bhat and curry with veg from the garden. Thank you again for everything!
