Faulu Productions Community Based Organization

Volunteering with us at Faulu Productions offers a rare opportunity to make a deep and lasting impact in one of the world's most unique humanitarian settings: Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya.
Here, you won’t just be a volunteer. You will become part of a resilient, welcoming community that has turned hardship into hope through creativity, education, and collective strength. You’ll witness firsthand how people rebuild their lives and preserve dignity despite enormous challenges, and your presence will help fuel that transformation.

Unlike typical volunteer experiences, we offer:
Purposeful, soul-deep work: You will contribute directly to the lives of refugee women, children, and youth through education, skills training, and empowerment programs.

Cultural immersion: You will live, learn, and grow alongside people from over 15 nationalities, discovering rich traditions, languages, and values.

A spiritual journey: Many volunteers describe their time here as an awakening. In this place, the simplicity of life, the warmth of the people, and the strength of the human spirit bring unexpected inner peace and insight.

Flexibility and collaboration: We co-create your experience based on your interests, whether you are passionate about teaching, storytelling, mental health, fundraising, or simply listening and learning.
Most importantly, volunteering with us allows you to see the world differently, not from the headlines, but from the hearts of those who live it every day.
If you are seeking something meaningful, rooted in humanity, and quietly transformative, this is the place for you.

Faulu Productions is a grassroots, community-based organisation founded within Kakuma Refugee Camp, led by resilient individuals who have lived through conflict and displacement and are now committed to healing and uplifting others through education, empowerment, and creative expression. I am Amadi, the founder and director, originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Having lived as a refugee for over a decade, I established this organisation with a vision to give voice, hope, and dignity to displaced women, youth, and children. My journey has taught me compassion, strength, and the power of connection, values that guide every part of our work. Our team is made up of local refugee youth and women, as well as international volunteers who bring their skills, stories, and solidarity. Each member contributes uniquely, from preschool teachers to community mentors, mental health advocates to livelihood trainers. Volunteers are more than guests, they are family. We provide a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment where you are free to share your gifts and learn from others. We are deeply grateful for your time and presence, and we treat each volunteer with care, kindness, and dignity. You can expect: -Clear communication -Support with logistics and orientation -Cultural exchange and mutual respect -Flexibility based on your strengths and interests -Time for personal reflection and rest -Whether you are with us for a few weeks or longer, we aim to make your experience meaningful, memorable, and deeply human.

My time in Kakuma was unforgettable. It was a dream of mine to get to know a Refugee Camp and it couldn’t be a better experience. I was able to interact a lot with the local community, get to know and understand how the camp and its facilities work, engage a lot with the refugees, both young people as children! I was so happy to see the work that’s its been done by the project and I would love to be back to Kakuma!

I spent 3 weeks with the Faulu organization and had an amazing experience. From day one, the team made me feel like family, and I formed lasting friendships. Although I came as an English teacher, I got involved in various programs like agriculture, education, business development and human rights. The organization is a reference point for the camp and offers constant support to the comunity. Thanks to them, I had the chance to explore the camp and connect with many people there, who taught me a lot. I’m grateful for this experience and look forward to returning soon.

Gris, a dedicated volunteer from Spain, made a remarkable impact at Faulu Productions by teaching Spanish to refugees. Her passion, patience, and creativity helped students learn effectively, making lessons engaging through music, games, and storytelling.

Beyond teaching, Gris built strong connections with students, boosting their confidence and communication skills. Her kindness and dedication created a positive learning environment, and her efforts will have a lasting impact on the community.

This worldpackers post is highly misleading. No meals or accommodation were provided as promised; only lunch was covered when I worked. They initially told me that accommodation would be $7 per day, and I stayed 30 days at their recommended guesthouse. On the last day, I was charged 9000 KSH ($700). After I complained, they gave me 15000 KSH. I never taught English to kindergarten students because the kindergarten was closed. Instead, I did random tasks each day, was often left alone in the office for hours with nothing to do. But I had an amazing experience with the refugees and locals.

Thank you for your review. The volunteer came in November at the end when some programs of the organisation were closed due to time and budget running out and one to two programs were still running. The issue of accommodation was a little lack of understanding between the organisation and the volunteer; we showed him different accommodations that were cheaper, but the volunteer did not like them. We have been doing the renovation of the volunteers' house since early October.
