Den & Jean's Natural Farm

Our place is midlands, around 320masl - cool and breezy and surrounded by mostly non-productive agricultural land, so fresh and natural air. The farm has 4-6 workers at any point in time and will be tending to the vegetables and fruit trees. Your role will be to assist them as well as tend to your own assigned vegetable beds. We are an organic farm doing CSA with some farm animals on the side.

===============
WORK:
You will be working 5hrs x 6 days with flexible schedule. You can choose to do 3hrs in the morning, 2hrs in the afternoon and avoid 10am-3pm noontime heat. Work will mostly be farm work - watering, weeding, mulching, transplanting, compost and vermicast work, bed preparations - but also (rarely) with some work around the kitchen and house whenever we have an event or guest. We will provide all tools and equipment needed... we just need your positive attitude and open-mindedness to collaborate and work with us. We are a young (4yr old) organic farm so if you have inputs from your previous experience, we are happy to listen and learn.

===============
ACCOMMODATION:
You will get your own small house (as in photo) with 1 bedroom (1 queen size bed, and 1 queen pullout), 1 bathroom, a big dining and kitchen area and your own fridge. We don't have freezer but our staff has one so you can put things if needed. Bring your own toiletries and towels as we don't provide them. We have complete kitchenware and cookware for most needs. Your room is 3m x 3m and house is 8m x 6m. The kitchen areas will be used as vegetable washing and sorting every TUE/THU 2am-4am, so there might be some noise but also a good experience for you to join our harvest and sorting activity if you like.

===============
RIDE TO THE FARM:
We have regular vegetable delivery from Farm to Manila every TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS. So plan your trip based on these schedules to get free ride to and from the farm.

TUESDAYS / THURSDAYS DELIVERY SCHEDULE (Plan your trip around this)
Leaves farm 4am going to Manila (Taguig City, 15mins from airport)
Leaves Manila around 11am-12:30nn going back to the farm

Note: depending on our schedules, we can also pick you up from the airport.

===============
GROCERIES:
1. We will be providing rice, water and vegetables (depending on season) for your entire stay. We also have tea leaves for you to brew as well as some fruits (depending on season)
2. Groceries can be bought from a supermarket 20mins away - which is also along the way to the farm.

===============
WHAT TO DO WHEN NOT WORKING?
1. Our farm is 1 hectare so you can roam around, lounge around, read a book or just listen to nature's sound when not working.
2. There is a hiking trail nearby (20mins away) where you can experience sunrise at summit.
3. A big commercial area with restaurants, coffee shop and supermarket facing an amazing lake with a volcano that is 20mins away where you can lounge and enjoy.
4. Talk to my staff and learn about our culture, how we think, what we eat, and how we perceive your country - is the best way to enjoy your stay.

===============
RULES:
Please respect our farm, environment, animals and people.
*** PLEASE ALWAYS KEEP YOUR HOUSE/ROOM CLEAN ALL THE TIME! ***

We have staff and a family living in the farm as regular workers. You will be interacting with them and exchanging culture. Cook with them and pick native vegetables with them. Ask about our country or your country. Our staff will mostly be doing farm work also and you will be assigned to work with one or some of them depending on the week/season.

I spent a week at the farm and had a productive time there! Macel and Derek were more than eager to share their knowledge about the whole process of organic farming - it is truly inspiring how we, as humans, together with the living things around us - can sustain life without actively destroying it at the same time. I would love to practice this lifestyle and maybe start my own organic farming in the future. Kudos to this wonderful team who are able to work in harmony and are able to produce abundantly. Thanks to Den and Jean for the warm welcome and kindest regards!

Staying at Den and Jen’s farm felt like stepping into a small, green world full of good food and kind souls. The stay was a great hands-on experience in organic farming. Den and Jen welcomed us warmly, Jun and Abby invited us into their home with Filipino dishes; while Macel, Derrick, and Julian shared their farming techniques and stories. The days were filled with work, laughter, and shared meals. Our last night was a bonfire with karaoke, the perfect send-off. If you want to connect with nature while experiencing true Filipino warmth, this is the place. Pack comfy clothes and an open heart.

Work is interesting and reasonable, fresh vegetables are delicious and the host and other workers on the farm are kind and extremely generous. It’s a great opportunity to immerse yourself in local culture and get inspired to learn and grow. Thankyou Den, Jean, Macel, Abby and Jun!!

Thank you so much for these 19 days, during which I was able to learn about both organic farms and Filipino culture

With Direk, I was able to perform various tasks such as sowing, transplanting, which plants to weed, how compost is created... I met the Abby and June’s family, who welcomed me very warmly and made sure my stay goes well. Many thanks to Macel, who accompanied me on my outings, explained a lot of things, and, above all, provided me with some fun times.

And finally, thank you to Denison and Jean for your welcome and for allowing me to experience this in this beautiful setting
