Club Waskaduwa Beach Resort & Spa

Its a great location with a relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff where you can get involved in daily operation and learn a lot of skills related to Resort business and the culture of Sri Lanka.

We are quite easy going, but we work hard to achieve our goals and to make sure our guests have a pleasant stay with us. Volunteers are considered part of our team and they are treated well and they are expected to deliver what they commit or promise. They are provided with guest rooms and 3 meals free of charge and discounts on all extras through out the outlets/properties that they are expected to be a part of. We may offer them some local experiences that may include sightseeing based on their commitment/performance.

My stay at Club Waskaduwa was a mix of challenges and great learning. In the beginning, with the owner away, tasks and meal arrangements were a bit unorganized, but once Athula returned everything became clear and better-coordinated. The resort is beautiful and has space to grow, especially in staff organisation. I learned a lot in sales and marketing and truly felt part of the team. As my first volunteering experience, it taught me so much. Thank you Athula and Umesh for the opportunity!

The Club Waskaduwa was my first volunteering experience. I came with a friend, and we shared a room with two other volunteers. The hotel staff was incredibly kind, and the hotel manager was very attentive to the volunteers’ needs.

My friend and I mainly helped with cleaning the rooms. We also had three meals included every day, and they were always delicious often served as a large buffet, which we really enjoyed.

The only downside is that there isn’t much to do around the hotel in terms of activities or places to visit.

It was a very good experience in Waskaduwa. Athula and the staff are great people, always smiling. The meals were appreciated by all, the room was also correct. Regarding work, I just worked in housekeeping, it's not complicated. And I was once at the Colombo café, which was pretty nice! If I could give advice it would be to diversify the tasks of the volunteers.

I really enjoyed my stay at Club Waskaduwa :) The location right by the sea is perfect for watching the most beautiful sunsets, the pool was always warm, and we could relax there before or after work. The food was really great on buffet days, but on all other days it could be a bit monotonous. The staff were always super friendly, even if there were communication problems. Work was mostly easy to manage depending on the task (housekeeping, restaurant, or reception). Unfortunately I never worked in Colombo, did mostly Housekeeping. The hotel hast some things to improve, but I'm sure they will.
