Castlehouse B+B

Castlehouse is in the third generation of my family and was originally built by my grand father, it is a house that oozes character and old world charm. My house
has a sea and mountain view and is just a five minute walk to the beach, Renvyle where I live is on the Wild Atlantic Way in north Connemara one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland. Castlehouse is located in a small village that has one small and one large shops, another village 1.5 km away has a couple of pubs and restaurants. Connemara National is 5 km away and Kylemore Abbey is 8 km. Any volunteer that comes will have the chance to improve there English and immerse themselves in Irish culture and our way of life, and you will have the chance to meet people from all over the world. Accommodation is a mixture of private and dorm where you will share with just one other person and this is only in peak season. Sorry lads but I only accept ladies as I don't have enough separate accommodation. You will be given three good meals a day and have two days a week off, you will also have the use of my mountain bike during your stay.
I also have a small sheep and Connemara pony farm and you are more than welcome to come along and see how things are done..

I have lived in Renvyle all my life apart from the five years I spent in boarding school. Cycling is my main hobby and the Renvyle area is well suited to it. I am a keen cook with an interest in experimenation I have been running a B+B since 1990 and I love meeting people from all over the world..I enjoy foreign travel and have visited most European countries. I am quiet an easy going person and I treat everybody with respect.

Staying at Castlehouse B&B was a wonderful experience! From the moment I arrived, I felt truly welcomed. John creates a warm, comfortable atmosphere and is always helpful with tips for exploring Connemara. The tasks are simple—serving breakfast, ironing, making beds, light cleaning—and leave plenty of time to enjoy the stunning nature. You can explore the surroundings by bus or bike. John can also give you a lift to the nearest bus stop, making it convenient to visit many beautiful destinations. And on top of that, his dinners are absolutely delicious!

I really enjoyed my stay at Castlehouse B&B!! John was very welcoming, friendly and chatty and provided us with lots of fun stories and interesting facts. He is patient and if mistakes are made he communicates that with respect. John is also an amazing cook and I had many super delicious dinners at his house!
The B&B is located close to the beach and the national park and therefore ideal to wind down and relax (after the work is done of course :)) and should you want to go anywhere a little further away John is always willing to help you get there as long as you are kind and appreciative :)

My experience at Castlehouse B&B was wonderful, I felt really at home there and I cannot recommend it enough. John is such a caring and kind person that goes out of his way to help others. The work is not too much but not too little, I really enjoyed getting into the routine of it. We started in the morning and always finished at lunch time, after that we were free to do and visit wherever we liked. The nature there it’s amazing, be ready for many beautiful walks and stunning views!
My time there was special and I know I’ll always look back in the years to came at this experience!

My stay at castlehouse bnb was an amazing experience and I definitely recommend it! The tasks (ironing, cleaning, helping with breakfast, making the beds) are quite easy and great to acquire some experience as a first time volunteer. The bnb is located in a really nice area of Connemara and is great if you like hiking and nature. The beach is also very close and beautiful! John is a great host, really welcoming, friendly, and kind. He made me feel at home right away. At dinner we always ate all together, it was really nice and I will miss John's cooking!

The stay at Castlehouse was amazing. It was my first time volunteering and I definitely recommend it.
John is very nice, cooks great and loves to talk to the volunteers.
The tasks are easy: often we worked only 4 hours per day.
The landscape is lovely and even better than expected. There are lots of possibilities to hike and you can use the bicycle of John too.
He convinced me to stay 3 instead of 2 weeks and I'm glad I spent that much time there:)
