Beija Flor - Community Eco Village

Beija Flor Community Eco-Village has been created with the intention of creating a community based on love, respect and the exchange of knowledge and cultures.

We provide the volunteers a unique opportunity for personal development in the most free and creative way possible, and we try to transfer this energy when carrying out the tasks.
Immersed in community and in harmony with nature we open space for tuning in and co create together.

Morning activities allow you to create a healthy routine to start your day in a positive energy.

In your time with us, you will be able to develop your passions or to explore new activities inside the village, such as painting, construction and decorating the space, as well as activities outside of it, such as walks in the area, visiting our waterfalls and even going to nearby towns like Montezuma and Santa Teresa.

As a volunteer, your main tasks will be maintaining the common spaces, cooking meals, painting and helping with permaculture, where you will learn a lot about agriculture and the properties of plants. These tasks take place mornings on weekdays, with weekends off. In addition, you can enjoy yoga, meditation included in the fee. In case you wish to go somewhere, you will find it very easy to reach the places by walking or by hitchhiking, or you can always talk to us and we will try to accommodate the trips :)

Beija Flor Is for those who want disconnect from everyday life and have an immersive experience into nature and spirituality.

The volunteer house is a bit far from the city and the main beaches but you can walk all around the amazing area to find beautiful waterfalls and amazing rivers.

You are surrounded by a lot of animals (lot of mosquitos tough) and you can raise, collect and prepare your own food.

Tasks are easy and you are asked to collaborate how you want/can.

The family hosting the project is extremely kind, they are always there to help, giving amazing classes of yoga and Capoeira

Beija flor is such a special place! It was my first Worldpackers experience, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Everyone at the village is so welcoming and makes you feel right at home the second you get there. The nature here is incredible, and the wildlife is so cool to see around the village! Morning start with yoga, capoeira, and breathwork. All of the classes were so amazing and fun to try! The work is fun and easy with a lot of downtime to explore around the area. The energy that surrounds this place is beyond special. Thank you beija flor for the amazing space you’ve created!

Beija Flor is truly a special place, deeply connected to nature and surrounded by beautiful people who are now lifelong friends. I’m grateful for this magical experience of being connected to nature. I will definitely be back in the future.
There are a few things you should know. You have to hike up and down a steep mountain to get to the beach or town. Also, meals are self prepared, which wasn’t a problem but it wasn’t clearly mentioned prior. Also, some locals have expressed concerns about environmental impacts of BF’s expansions. I hope as they expand they incorporate more local voices.

I have mixed feelings about my stay.
It was my first volunteer experience so I didn’t really know what to expect. There was not much work to do, almost none and the owner would ask us to follow another volunteer. There is a small garden to take care of but mostly it felt just cooking and cleaning after ourselves. The owners let me paint a mural which was very nice of them and also they teach great yoga and capoeira. However I do not agree with project’s intentions and felt a bit uncomfortable knowing locals point of view. I would just recommend to check out the website to have a better view.

I had an amazing experience at Beija Flor, although I needed one or two days to really integrate/adapt to the new people/surroundings.
The atmosphere there is spiritual- everybody is very conscious of themselves and their surroundings. I learned so much about myself and living in a community. And for this I am so grateful!
Thank you Beija Flor and all the other volunteers that I met during my stay there.
