Bamboo forest house in Hangzhou & apartment in Shanghai

That house is located in the city center. It only takes 5 minutes to walk from our house to the nearby subway station, and you can take the subway to most visiting places or train station and airports in Shanghai.

I am looking for one or two volunteers to help taking care of my boy, or do some housework. What you need to do is reading English books, drawing or playing with him. We hope you are patient with him and willing to answer my boys' curious questions, and take the initiative to find some topics to talk with the child or play games with him to narrow the gap between you. When the child is not around, you can help with some housework, such as cooking and washing dishes. People who have full experience are very welcome. If you can cook, or teach children or adults to play musical instruments, you are also very welcome to take up teaching music or cook as your work.

The minimum stay is 7 days. 4 hours of your labor in exchange for three meals a day and accommodation. These 4 hours can be continuous or split into two sessions, and the time can be in the morning or evening. All foods are prepared by my wonderful mum and you will be able to taste true local cuisine.

During your free time, you can visit attractions in Shanghai. On weekends, we would like to take you to attractions that are further away and introduce you to the local culture or help organize your visits to places worth visiting in Shanghai.

We also have a larger house in Hangzhou, where is surrounded by mountains, lush jungles, banboos, and vast rice fields. If you want to go, we'd be happy to take you there when we are available. That house is located beside a 4A scenic attraction called Shangougou scenic area. We have a bamboo forest in the mountains where we can teach you how to identify and dig up bamboo shoots there. During the tea picking season, we can also instruct you on how to pick tea leaves.

Please note that smoking is not allowed in the house. Thank you for your understanding.

This experience was really great. I was received in their home in Shanghai (上海) and then moved to Dalian (大连). They have always been respectful, welcoming and really put effort on offering a good place to stay, as well that they spent time to teach me about Northern and general culture, food and history of China. I totally recommend this volunteering for someone passioned for education and trying to get involved more deeply with Chinese life style.

I really felt at home during my stay here. Susie is incredibly kind and welcoming, and I had the chance to get to know her lovely family as well. Her mother cooked us some delicious meals that made me feel so cared for. I also spent time with the little boy, who is not only very smart but also so passionate about soldiers—it was truly fun teaching him, and I actually learned a lot from him too! This experience was warm, meaningful, and unforgettable. Thank you so much for everything!

I had a good time with the kids teaching them Tennis and piano at their grandparents house near Hangzhou. At times it definitely felt like that there was not a lot to do in the village and communication usually functioned via Translator app. Everyone involved, from the kids to the grandparents and parents were super kind, welcoming and accommodating. If you want to really know how day to day life in China feels like, this is an amazing experience.

I ended up spending five days with Susie's family in Shanghai. It was my pleasure to be part of the family even just for a very short time of period. I truly enjoyed the time spent with Diandian, the 5-year-old boy of the family. I had a lot of free time during the day, and usually, the work would take place after Diandian came back from kindergarten. The work was easy and manageable, what I did was read the picture books and answer his questions; I also took the grandma around since she struggled to read maps, however, this is def up to your choice.
Thanks for having me :-)
