Asociación Conservacionista de la Tortuga Marina de El Progreso (ACOTPRO)
We are an off-the-beaten track, community-led, sea turtle conservation project located in one of Costa Rica's most beautiful and unique areas - Drake Bay! The setting is wild and our field station is rustic, but the experience of working with turtles and living and exploring the Corcovado area is unforgettable! You will get a real authentic Tico experience and you'll also meet lots of other volunteers and locals, both from our project, and from other nearby volunteer projects.
ACOTPRO is an association formed by a group of local residents in 2003, with the objective of protecting and conserving sea turtles from human impact. We are very committed to the volunteer project since your help is very important to be able to carry out all our activities.

Acotpro is a beautiful place, and the project behind the association is truly inspiring.
However, we did experience a few issues during our stay. On our last day, the person who was supposed to cook for us never showed up.
Additionally, we received very little information about what was expected of us, which made the experience a bit confusing sometimes.

Acoptro está ubicado en un lugar hermoso y el trabajo que realizan Alba y Manuel es muy valioso. He aprendido mucho sobre las tortugas marinas con ellos. Sin embargo, Acoptro tiene serios problemas. Parece haber falta de comunicación interna, lo que genera confusión entre los voluntarios. Nos pedían que trabajáramos en supuestos días libres y, en nuestro último día, teníamos que cocinar porque nadie aparecía. También hay poca participación de los voluntarios: nos pedían que hiciéramos alguna actividad y nos informaban muy poco sobre las actividades que podíamos hacer.

L’esperienza in se alla fine non é stata male ma di certo non quello che mi aspettavo leggendo le recensioni. Il posto é meraviglioso circondato da natura fantastica e solo per questo ne é valso il viaggio. Mi aspettavo di meglio dal progetto però. Mi sono sentita spesso abbandonata a me stessa senza un vero coinvolgimento da parte dello staff del progetto. Al di fuori delle attività notturne di controllo della spiaggia che duravano comunque 2 o 3 ore, la maggior parte del tempo eravamo liberi ma anche soli. Credo che ci sono conflitti interni che non rendono piacevole l’esperienza dei volont
