Arctic Motell & Kautokeino Camping

You are most welcome here to the Arctic family!

You will only work 4 hours per day. It will be easy tasks, and you will have plenty of time to explore the nearby area. You will have access to the Sauna, breakfast and washing machine for free. There will be a shared volunteer cabin. You will have access to modern common showers, toilets and kitchen. In the evenings at the camping, we make coffee on the fire in the Lavvo (traditional sami tent) and hang out with the guests. You are also welcome to experience this.

You will get the opportunity for valuable experience in work related to reception, customer service, tourism and business.
Kautokeino is a beautiful place and has amazing nature and rich culture to offer.

At Arctic you will be welcomed with open arms. The camping is run by the Kristensen family since 1966. Both the guests and the family are very friendly and open people.

Volounteering at the Arctic Motell allows you to experience a very special corner of the world that you could otherwise miss. The place is run by a family of Sami origins that is extremely welcoming.
Gunn is a kind and caring host, and I can promise to anyone reading this that they will feel at home here, or even better.
Work hours are respected, and extremely flexible, without any type of micromanagement.
We had the opportunity to go hiking using the owner's car, and we often used the sauna during the nights.
I think it's challenging to find a better volounteering than this in Norway.

I wish I had more time to spend here in Kautokeino. Gunn Eliziabeth and her family were very welcoming and accommodating. I learned so much about Sami culture and customs. The group of volunteers here was just as amazing and welcoming. The tasks were different and fun every day. Most of the time, you are never alone, as you work alongside other volunteers. The midnight sun was breathtaking, and the overall atmosphere here is unmatched. I will say if you are here for the summer, please bring bug spray, the mosquitoes can be a little overwhelming 😅.

Gunne Elisabeth and Henriette are fantastic hosts! They are so welcoming and great at integrating volunteers into the day-to-day of their family business. So grateful I had the opportunity to volunteer and would recommend the experience to anyone interested in spending some time in the north!

I had a great experience.
If someone is looking for a place far away from the fast life, and needs his own space to do some own work, and experiencing something different this is the place.
When I was there it was a midnight sun which is something really cool to experience.
Try to be social and curios, that’s what I did, and made friendships for life with the family members and the managers.

I will come back for sure.
