We're a small team at AWT: Hector and Krisanthi are the founders, Chaminda is our manager, and we have a dedicated staff living on-site. About the accomodation: we offer a spacious house right within the shelter. It has three fully furnished bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. There's also a well-equipped kitchen and living room where you can relax. Both locations are walking distance to supermarkets and restaurants. Both locations are easily accessible by public transport. Both locations are 45 to 60 minutes from the City of Colombo. I stayed at Animal Wellness Trust for two and a half weeks, and I had the best time there. Working with the dogs was amazing, they are all so friendly and loving. The people I worked with were also incredibly nice. The work was fun and easy to do, and I would recommend this experience to anyone who loves dogs. I hope I can come back one day<3

Volunteering at the animal shelter in Sri Lanka was a lively and rewarding experience. The staff and other volunteers were consistently supportive and welcoming, creating a positive environment from the start. The work with the animals was meaningful and well organized, and the overall atmosphere made the time there genuinely enjoyable. A very good experience in every aspect

The team wasn't coordinated. They had no intention of teaching. Of course, I understand that caring for around 400 dogs is difficult, but the volunteers who come should receive brief training. Besides that, spending time with the dogs and with other travelers who came was wonderful; it was a wonderful experience. Even just spending time with the dogs alone would be a great fit.
