My volunteering experience was overall very positive. Peter is extremely kind and welcoming, always available for any request or need. The place we stayed in is really nice, close to the beach and all main points of interest, and he helped us a lot — we often went out together, and he gave great suggestions on what to do and where to eat.
As for the work, the schedule wasn’t always very clear, and the tasks were quite light, often just half an hour or an hour a day. So it wasn’t a particularly formative experience in terms of farm work, but it absolutely was for the people I met and the lovel

Hi Daniele, Hope you didn’t have any hard work and 4hrs of daily work. The format was given to you and if you been a proactive person you should have worked 4hrs checking each and every plant daily. Cheers..!

This was my first volunteer experience, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Peter was welcoming and helpful. I stayed with three other volunteers and shared a spacious, quiet room with one of them.
The project itself has a nice concept, though due to the weather we weren’t able to do very much. We did learn a few things about farming and enjoyed fresh coconuts during our time at the farm. The family who prepares breakfast is very kind, and the dogs on the property are also lovely to have around.
I enjoyed the area and had a good time during my stay!

Peter has been a truly amazing host, very accommodating and kind and I am so grateful for the time I got to spend here!! Even though I only stayed for two weeks, I immediately felt welcomed as part of the family. At the farm I got to help out with harvesting, watering and caring for the plants. I also got to borrow a saxophone AND a violin to practice and play music together which was so fun and super kind!!!! The food was amazing and they were also very considerate towards me as a vegetarian :) Thank you Peter, Kanchu, Sandeepa and Mahesh for your generosity and making my stay so wonderful.

I had an amazing experience volunteering here. It was a great opportunity to work alongside local people and learn new things. Peter and his team are friendly and welcoming, and they really go over and beyond to make sure you have a good time in Sri Lanka. I had a wonderful time here and I enjoyed every minute of it. I wouldn’t have changed this experience for the world and I wish them the best of luck moving forward with the project :)

This is truly been the best decision I have made to come to Ahangama Village, I couldn’t of asked for a more welcoming, interesting, funny group of people, the host Peter is one of my favourite people I have met and makes everybody feel at home straight away. The eco site is beautiful, has the loveliest people working there, the cutest dogs I’ve EVER met, and is such a calm environment to learn so much about the culture here and the work we do on the farm, whilst having so much fun playing pool, cooking together and laughing more than I think I ever have. I wish I could stay here forever !!!
