This was my first homestay and I am so blessed it was with this family. Kenta and Natsuki are excellent cooks and are fun to converse with, as well as Kaede and Yumi at the school. They have consistent meetings so everyone stays on the same page and operations run smoothly. I left with more knowledge on how to adjust with different learning styles, thus improving teaching methods. Tsuru is an underrated place to stay and deserves way more traffic. So excited to visit again!

I spent one month at study garden, in which I was able to have a great experience. Teaching students of different ages was so much fun, everyone at school was nice and helpful. I was also able to enjoy Japanese culture and meet with locals thanks to Mr Kenta and his family. Definitely coming back 🌸

Mi tiempo en la casa School fue excelente. Las personas aquí nos dieron un trato muy cordial y amable. Las clases con los niños fueron entretenidas y creo que es muy útil para ellos. Le agradezco a Fumisan por siempre haber estado presente y preocuparse porque estuviéramos bien. Fue muy interesante compartir tiempo con los demás voluntarios.

I loved my experience at Study Garden and I am glad I could know everyone there. Kenta-san, his family and Kaede-san are very kind and friendly, and to teach Japanese kids was a very fun and cute experience. I had a good time and I did a lot of friends. 🩷

Everything was so great and i'm already so nostalgic of my time living with Kenta and his family. They're so kind, generous and so eager to share their culture. We had so much fun together at dinner, at the onsen, or doing anything else. They included me on so many different adventures and i really loved it. Working at the school was also great, the hours are flexible and the kids are fun to work with, you always have class with other volunteers so it makes the experience of teaching easier. On my last day i definitely shed some tears saying bye to everyone. I want to come back asap!

I had a great experience volunteering as an English teacherl. The atmosphere was very positive, and the students were eager to learn, which made teaching really enjoyable. Kenta, was very kind, supportive, and made sure everything went smoothly. Overall, it was a rewarding experience that I would highly recommend.

Definitely one of my favorite volunteer positions ever! It was the first time I tried teaching English, and I couldn't have found a better place for it. The work was fun and easy to get into. Weekends were free, and Kenta together with the rest of the school staff were always happy to suggest the most enjoyable ways to spend them. For me, the best part was living with other teacher-travelers from around the world—sharing evenings together, cooking meals, and exchanging insights about our cultures. I truly hope I'll return in the future!

This experience was truly nice ! Kenta-San and Fumi-san are so kind !😀 Teaching English was funny and interesting, kids are adorable and you have English conversations with adults which is very good to learn and share about experiences 😃 Following Japanese lessons was an unforgettable experience, I cried when I left as it was amazing to learn with other people 🥹 I felt like a big family 🙏🫶 I'll never forget this chance !

This was definitely one of the greatest experiences I have had on my trip! I had an amazing time with the volunteers, as well as Kenta and his family and the kids in the school <3 The working times were very flexible and short and it made a LOT of fun to work there! We had a lot of free time and were able to go to surrounding areas, to hike, see Mount Fuji and go swimming at a waterfall. We also did a traditional tea ceremony together and I just made a LOT of new friends over the 3 weeks I have stayed here.

I absolutely loved my home stay with Kenta and Natsuki. They were so welcoming and kind! They also encouraged cultural exchange through conversations, food, and activities. The teaching was also enjoyable and straightforward, and you always taught alongside other teachers so you weren't on your own. My only “concern” was the lack of communication about the job responsibilities, but thankfully they are very simple and straightforward so after a day or two I was able to easily adjust. Otherwise, I wish I could've stayed longer!
