Hi, my name is Leo. It's my first time volunteering and I'm truly thankful for the experience. Nina “The Mom” and her daughter in law Dina treated me like family — always helpful, always making sure I had food, comfort, and everything I needed. Sofia surprised me with its amazing hikes, friendly people from all around the world, and a peaceful vibe. The job became easy once I mastered the routine. Grateful for everything. Recommended and I will come back later ✈️🫶🏼❤️

My experience at Hostel N1 was truly enjoyable and enriching. The atmosphere created by the guests was amazing, I had the chance to meet some truly wonderful people. The work at the hostel is very well organized and quite structured. High standards are expected in every aspect, from reception duties to cleaning. At first, it might feel a bit demanding, but after a few days, you get into the rhythm and understand how to carry out your tasks efficiently and confidently. The managers: Alex, Nina, and Dina are always available and supportive, ready to help whenever needed. Thanks for everything!!

La experiencia en el N1 es muy buena. El hostal está en pleno centro de Sofia, es pequeño así que en las zonas comunes siempre acabas conversando con todos los huéspedes y haciendo amigos, el ambiente es muy cómodo. El hostal es un negocio familiar: Nina es un mujer rusa muy divertida y cariñosa, al principio parecerá estricta con la limpieza pero te acostumbrarás muy rápido, es una persona muy fácil de querer. Dina es menos estricta y también muy buena persona!! Es un sitio muy especial en el que pasar una pequeña temporada y tu ayuda sin duda será bien recibida, lo recomiendo!!

My journey at hostel N1 was incredible. The place has a lot of rules and this makes everything work perfectly, the work is all explained, there's even a manual with all the tasks if you need it. Working hours are strictly respected, and days off too. I had the opportunity to take a tour that the hostel organized for guests. Alex, Nina and Dina, the people I had contact with, and they were incredible, the hostel is a family hostel and they made me feel part of it, Nina treated us like real children and prepared typical food. For sure, if I pass through Bulgaria, I will go to hostel N1 again.

En general recomiendo la experiencia! Tuve la oportunidad de trabajar con Dina y Nina. Pasé más tiempo con Dina, quien siempre fue muy amable lo que hizo que el día a día fuera muy llevadero. Los primeros tres días pueden ser un poco difíciles, ya que Nina quien te enseña, solo habla ruso. Con paciencia y la ayuda del Traductor, todo se entiende. Al principio es un poco estricta, pero con el tiempo vas a empezar a tomarle cariño. En cuanto a la limpieza, hay reglas claras y se espera que el trabajo se haga bien; y en cuanto a la comida recomiendo hablar bien que te dan desde un principio!

I had an amazing experience at this hostel, and I'm truly grateful for the time I spent here. Dina and Nina feel like family to me, they always made sure everything was well-stocked, asked if I slept well, and genuinely cared about my well-being. The work can be intense at times, but once you get used to it, it becomes much easier. There are many rules, but they help create structure and make it clear what is expected, which is great for understanding the workflow.

Me sentí muy acogida en el hostal, los primeros dos días se hace un poco difícil mientras aprendes las tareas, después se hace muy fácil. Nina es un ser humano muy lindo, dale tiempo a conocerla, te prometo que serás feliz en el hostal! Todo el tiempo me sentí como en mi hogar, son flexibles, te sientes en tu propio espacio, fueron días muy felices para mi, te recomiendo hacer amigos para que la experiencia sea más bonita, en mi caso estuve junto con otra voluntaria, lo cual hizo mi vida muy bonita allá. Ábrete a la experiencia será un recuerdo invaluable.

It's a really nice place to stay, Nina and Dina are really nice they will always check if you are okay and feel comfortable and they are really welcoming ! I personally learn a lot about work the hostel and it was a great experience

The owner's treatment of volunteers is deeply humiliating. She switches from a friendly tone to yelling and scolding without reason, creating a tense and unpredictable environment. There is no patience to teach, only constant pressure, aggressive corrections, and looks of contempt. I saw a new volunteer being yelled at, shamed, and expelled on his first day with zero empathy, and two others left after experiencing her mistreatment. The owner unloads her frustration on volunteers, creating ongoing emotional abuse. and the work is too hard. This is not a safe or healthy place. I do not recommend

Juanfran completed his stay, and we chose not to give him a low rating to avoid harming his profile. For future hosts: he arrived without familiarizing himself with the information provided, which created difficulties throughout his stay. His profile photo is misleading, as guests found him unpleasant, unsmiling, and aloof, resulting in negative feedback. He does not seem suited for client-facing roles.
