The guest house is a paradise, thats the only way i can describe it! Toshi the host is super chill en nice, he's funny and he's a DJ so cant go wrong with that. The work itself is very chill and actually fun and relaxing sometimes, it was a nice start to the day and not long at all. The surf is absolutely perfect for all levels. The town itself is beautifull and offers some nice quiet and chill vibes. I would also recommend Hitchhicking on the island of KYU SHU, its a great way to meet local people! Toshi and Japan, THANK YOU! PS. If you see Ms. Kohana in the saloon, say hey for me!

I had a great time at the guest house! The work was very simple and there were plenty of opportunities to surf. Toshi and Foo are really lovely people and the other volunteers at the guesthouse, even more so :) The town has a very chill vibe and is the perfect place to rest and relax. Will definitely be back!

Toshi created an unique paradise for whoever want to experience a different way of living Japan culture. The place to stay is great, he is always available for any needs, passionate in talking with you if needed and very clear on how the work is supposed to be done. Surfboard will be there, wesuits as well, you only need to get to be there to live an amazing experience and to have fun with others volunteering. Great time. Thank you Toshi, as i said when i left you really create a perfect place for traveling dreamers as i am.

The work was really easy and house was in a good location near the beach and public transport. Its a great experience for those who want to surf and chill.

I enjoyed staying at this place because it offers a lot of freetime and the chances of meeting new people can be good. I did not like that the volunteers didn't really explained me how to do the cleaning and when I did something wrong everyone was mad? And when I asked what to do everyone seemed so annoyed. But that really depends on the other volunteers that are staying there. The host was really welcoming but sometimes not easy to reach because he's not always there. Aoshima is very quiet and apart from surfing there's not really a lot to do. Also free surf lessons were not available !!

Overall I had a great time surfing and hanging out with the other worldpackers! Surf break is 15 mins walk away, and you can use Toshi's boards whenever (though some are falling apart). Sadly the free surf lessons and bike use weren't offered during my stay, which was a bit dissapointing. The staff building was a bit mouldy and the common area got really hot, but the dorms were fine and had good AC. Work was usually 10-12, so you get plenty of free time! We did cleaning/making beds at different accoms, and sometimes weeding a campground. Beautiful sunsets in Aoshima and chill small-town vibes!

The house where the volunteers stay is a bit old, but the other volunteers help make it a nice place to live. The working hours are respected, and you can take your two days off whenever you want. We did cleaning in the mornings, but some extra tasks weren't mentioned in the ad, like fixing up new houses or doing gardening that felt more like renovation than regular cleaning. It would be a good idea to update the ad to include these. The host is friendly, but it was sometimes hard to follow what he wanted, and at times, I felt a bit uncomfortable around him.

I have to thank Toshi for this experience, it has been a beautiful way to experience local life, surfing and meeting wonderful people! The work is really easy and you have a lot of time for yourself to explore and discover new things, it's really helpful if you want to disconnect and experience what tourist normally don't. Coming back again, for sure!
