Toshi is a wonderful person. From the very first minute, he helped me whenever I needed it. He also helped us with housekeeping when necessary, and even when he wasn't with us, he was always attentive to everything. He was always kind and had a great sense of humor. He and the other volunteers all lived together in a different building, but it was close to the workplace, which made it feel like home. I was lucky that the other volunteers and residents were very friendly, and we respected each other at all times. I would definitely like to come back in the summer.

I can recommend staying in Aoshima to everyone! The host Toshi is very welcoming and nice. Also, he is a DJ and he once took us to a club where he was playing which was really fun! There is not much to do in Aoshima apart of surfing, so this is rather for people who are into surfing. The work was often done in less than two hours and consisted of cleaning the hostel, making beds and sometimes garden work. Thank you for letting me stay in Aoshima, Toshi!

Working at the guest house with Toshi and the team was such a really fun experience. Most days only consisted of about 2 hours of work starting from 10am then after that you're free to do as you are like. Toshi is very laid back and kind as a host. There were some surf boards and bikes available with board holders available for volunteers to but the boards are pretty basic foamies with a couple of hardboards. If you're willing to commit to surfing a lot, I was told Murasaki sports which is a 15 min walk away allows a monthly rental for 18,000 yen and you can switch boards as you wish which seems good.

Aoshima was a great place to volunteer. So relaxing and beautiful. Met lots of good people. Saw beautiful sunrises. The work was simple and less than what the page suggested. Not four hours a day, more like two. Toshi, the host, was cooperating with the work on most days. He guided us with our tasks and showed us what to do. About the offers of bikes and surfboards: The surfboard that were available for the volunteers were shabby and damaged. Most of them are foam boards. But there are good boards for rental, both at the Guesthouse and at other businesses in the area. No bikes. All broken.

I had such a great time in Aoshima, it's the kind of place where you want to stay longer. The work is super easy, most of the time from 10am to 12pm, doing cleaning, bed making, and some gardening. The rest of the time is spent at the beach, chilling, surfing, going to summer matsuri, local bar... Aoshima is really small, so you get to meet a lot of travellers and locals. It's really the perfect stress-free environment. Toshi is a very kind host that is always ready ready help. Thank you for everything!

I really liked my stay in Miyazaki! The community is really nice and the work is very simple and fast done. The hygienic situation could have been a little bit better but in general I had a really nice time in Aoshima especially because we had the access to go surfing anytime😍😍 Thank you for everything!!

I had a brilliant time volunteering at the guest house! The work is super chill, usually only a couple of hours a day. Toshi is nice and can be pretty funny at times. The other staff and volunteers were lovely to be around. The guesthouse is international and there's always someone up for hanging out. Aoshima is a sleepy little town and perfect for those who want to relax by the beach and improve their surfing. Volunteers can borrow soft tops and longboards should they wish, or get a murasaki rental for a wider selection of boards for different days. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

I had a blast here, there were a lot of odd task like rock picking and grass picking but all of them pretty fun and only around 1-2hours a day. The host Toshi is kind and easy to communicate with. Really recommend this place for anyone that want to get in touch with nature and live a slower life. Aoshima is also perfect if you want to practice on your own and improve your surfing if you come at the right season. There is no free surf instructor led session but there are some fomies you can borrow for free. Thank you it was a great experience!
