1:00 PM: Group Welcome Lunch
Recharge and connect. The group shares its first meal together, diving into fresh local flavors and getting hyped for the week ahead.
1:30 PM - 3:00 PM: Gear Up & Get Set
Time to get suited up. The pros will get you kitted out with all your dive gear, perfectly fitted. Just sign the waivers and you're ready.
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM Dive Skills Pool Session
Time to get wet! Head to the pool to practice your new skills, get comfortable with the gear, and take your very first breath underwater.
Evening
7:00 PM: Group Dinner & Dive Debrief
The day's done. Grab a great meal with the group and share stories from the pool session. This is where the real connection begins.
Day 2

7:30 AM: Morning Fuel-Up
Get energized for the big day. Grab a fresh breakfast with the group before heading out for the main event: the open ocean.
8:30 AM: Open Water Dive 1
This is it. Take the skills from the pool to the ocean. Descend with your instructor for your first real dive—it's pure magic. 4o
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM: Open Water Dive 2
Back for more. Head back down for the second dive, building confidence and exploring more of the incredible underwater world.

You've earned this. Refuel with a hearty lunch and share the excitement from your first ocean dives with the group.
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Dive Theory Deep Dive
Time to hit the books. Nail down the science and safety principles of diving in this crucial Open Water certification session.
04:00 PM - 05:00 PM – Exam E-Learning
Take a quick test on the knowledge about diving that you gathered!

Toast to a massive day. Enjoy a well-deserved dinner with the group and celebrate becoming certified (or almost certified) divers.
Day 3

7:30 AM: Pre-Dive Breakfast
Fuel up. Grab a solid breakfast with the group before heading back to the ocean for your final certification dives.
8:30 AM: Dive 3 - Certification Bound
Time to dive. Descend with your instructor, demonstrating your new skills and gaining even more confidence in the open ocean.
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM: Dive 4 - Certified Diver!
The final check-out dive. Complete your last skills underwater. When you surface, you'll be closer than never to be a certified Open Water diver.

Enjoy a well-deserved lunch with the group and soak in your new skills.
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM: OWC Final Exam
The last step. Take the final written exam to lock in all your knowledge. This is the finish line for your Open Water Certification!

This is impact in action. Dive with a purpose, collecting underwater trash and marine debris to protect the reef and its inhabitants.

Recharge after a morning of hard work. Share a meal with the group and reflect on the impact you just made.

Log your fieldwork to support real marine conservation efforts.

Track and learn to identify local fish & manta species and contribute to marine biodiversity research.

Share a meal and compare dive stories. Recharge with a well-deserved lunch before an afternoon of conservation science.
03:00 PM - 04:00 PM: Final Dive Exam
This is it—the last scheduled dive of the project. Make it count, soak it all in, and say 'see ya later' to the reef.

I had the best week of my life at the reserve. Everyone is so so lovely specifically Gilang, Fa'iz and Wildan who we worked closely with. They looked after us so well and were so good and patient with teaching us. The work we did out there was so rewarding and so much fun. This was my first ever volunteering program and I'm not lying when I say that the bar is now set HIGH. The two weeks in the reserve didn't feel like working, it felt like home. The staff from the reserve was the best and they always ensured that we would have the best time. I learned so much from all of them. I was sad to leave. I can't wait to go back and work with them again! :)

I worked with the reserve and sanctum dive on both a group conservation project and to gain my open water diving qualification. Both were amazing opportunities that I'm incredibly grateful to have had the chance to participate in. The staff are so friendly and make you feel welcome every step of the way, as well as being incredibly patient with everyone's learning paces. It's clear that they all really care about the health of the ocean and it's inhabitants and I'm very lucky to have had the chance to take part in the work that they were doing and to meet so many amazing people along the way.

You’ll stay at D'vayana Nusa Hotel, just a 5-minute walk from Sanctum Dive, the diving project HQ. Each room is shared between two travelers and includes comfortable beds, fresh linens, air conditioning, and a private Western-style bathroom. Enjoy the tropical gardens, on-site restaurant, and the chance to connect with fellow travelers in a peaceful atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of impact and underwater exploration.

Meals
At this project, you’ll enjoy three delicious, home-cooked meals every day—always made with fresh, local ingredients and lots of love. Most dishes are vegetarian, with rice or noodles, tofu, tempeh, and seasonal veggies like pumpkin, string beans, eggplant, and cabbage, all seasoned with authentic Indonesian spices. Chicken is also available for those who eat meat. Plus, you’ll have access to a shared kitchen to make snacks or cook with fellow Epic Trips travelers, perfect for swapping recipes and sharing flavors from around the world.
Arrival orientation
Travelers are supposed to arrive at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport, and take a taxi or ride-hailing service to the island’s main harbor, Sunar. Then, travelers are supposed to take a 45-minute boat trip to Toya Pakeh Harbor, in Nusa Penida, where we’ll pick them up.

Our program is specifically designed to educate about the ocean ecosystem and methods for minimizing our impact on it. We focus on initiatives such as coral rehabilitation, manta identification, net removal, plastic removal, and promoting social awareness of ocean-friendly practices. Additionally, we address strategies for mitigating existing damage to the ocean.

Life on land
Our programs for preserving and recovering underwater ecosystems primarily focus on activities originating from land: we educate people about the importance of avoiding over-extraction of resources from the ocean and protecting vulnerable species. This includes preventing trash from entering the ocean and implementing effective trash management practices such as recycling. Additionally, having an incinerator with a catalytic converter helps ensure responsible waste disposal, ultimately contributing to the health of the reef.
