Time to get suited up. The pros will get you kitted out with all your dive gear, perfectly fitted. Just sign the waivers and you're ready.

Learn who's who underwater. This workshop teaches you to ID the local fish species, from colorful parrotfish to hidden groupers.

You've earned this. Refuel with a hearty lunch and share the excitement from your first ocean lessons with the group.
1:30 PM - 3:00 PM: Manta Ray ID - Know Your Giants
Learn how to ID these gentle giants. This is key conservation tech, turning your dives into real data by spotting unique markings.
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Conservation Docu-Screening
Get inspired. Watch an impactful documentary movie that dives deep into the ocean's challenges and conservation heroes.
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Coral Watch - Reef Health Check
Learn how to monitor reef health. This workshop teaches you the official "Coral Watch" methods to track coral bleaching.

Back for more. Head back down for the second dive, building confidence and exploring more of the incredible underwater world.

8:30 AM: Coral Monitoring Dive
Take your new ID skills underwater. This dive is a hands-on survey, where you'll actively monitor reef health.
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM: Coral Restoration - Rebuilding the Reef
Get your hands wet. This is where you learn and apply real restoration methods, helping to plant new corals.

Enjoy a well-deserved lunch with the group and soak in your new skills.
3:00 PM - 4:00PM: Turtle ID
Learn to tell sea turtles apart. This vital workshop teaches you how to ID these amazing reptiles by their species and markings.

Move from awareness to action. Join this workshop to learn the facts about the plastic crisis and how to run a campaign.

Kick off the day with a fun dive. Put those new OWC skills to use and just enjoy exploring the reef before the work begins.
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM: Dive Against Debris
This is impact in action. Dive with a purpose, collecting underwater trash and marine debris to protect the reef and its inhabitants.
Afternoon
1:00 PM: Post-Cleanup Lunch
Recharge after a morning of hard work. Share a meal with the group and reflect on the impact you just made.
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Log Your Data
This is where it counts. Take all the observations from your dives and log them into the global database. This is real, tangible science.
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Beach Clean Up Mission
Take the fight to the shore. Hit the beach with the group to collect plastic and trash before it can even reach the ocean.

I had the best week of my life at Eco Hero Nusa Penida. Everyone is so so lovely specifically Gilang, Fa’iz and Wildan who we worked closely with. They looked after us so well and were so good and patient with teaching us. The work we did out there was so rewarding and so much fun. This was my first ever volunteering program and I’m not lying when I say that the bar is now set HIGH.
The two weeks in Nusa Penida didn’t feel like working, it felt like home. The staff from Eco Hero was the best and they always ensured that we would have the best time. I learned so much from all of them. I was sad to leave. I can’t wait to go back and work with them again! :)

I worked with eco hero and sanctum dive on both a group conservation project and to gain my open water diving qualification. Both were amazing opportunities that I'm incredibly grateful to have had the chance to participate in. The staff are so friendly and make you feel welcome every step of the way, as well as being incredibly patient with everyone's learning paces. It's clear that they all really care about the health of the ocean and it's inhabitants and I'm very lucky to have had the chance to take part in the work that they were doing and to meet so many amazing people along the way.

Meals
At this project, you’ll enjoy three delicious, home-cooked meals every day—always made with fresh, local ingredients and lots of love. Most dishes are vegetarian, with rice or noodles, tofu, tempeh, and seasonal veggies like pumpkin, string beans, eggplant, and cabbage, all seasoned with authentic Indonesian spices. Chicken is also available for those who eat meat. Plus, you’ll have access to a shared kitchen to make snacks or cook with fellow Epic Trips travelers, perfect for swapping recipes and sharing flavors from around the world.
Arrival orientation
Travelers are supposed to arrive at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport, and take a taxi or ride hailing service to the island’s main harbor, Sunar. Then, travelers are supposed to take a 45-min boat trip to Toya Pakeh Harbor, in Nusa Penida, where we’ll pick them up.

Our program is specifically designed to educate about the ocean ecosystem and methods for minimizing our impact on it. We focus on initiatives such as coral rehabilitation, manta identification, net removal, plastic removal, and promoting social awareness of ocean-friendly practices. Additionally, we address strategies for mitigating existing damage to the ocean.

Our projects operate under proven and sanctioned scientific methodology, in collaboration with organizations such as the Coral Triangle Center, Scuba Schools International, and Gili Shark Conservation. Life on land
Our programs for preserving and recovering underwater ecosystems primarily focus on activities originating from land: we educate people about the importance of avoiding over-extraction of resources from the ocean and protecting vulnerable species. This includes preventing trash from entering the ocean and implementing effective trash management practices such as recycling. Additionally, having an incinerator with a catalytic converter helps ensure responsible waste disposal, ultimately contributing to the health of the reef.
