Choosing La Comarca as my first volunteer experience was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The place is beautiful, close to a bus station, and perfect for exploring on days off. La Comarca gave me the best first volunteer experience I could wish for. Alex and Marco immediately made me feel at home, and I learned so much during my stay. I loved cooking, eating, swimming in the river, visiting the waterfall, and sharing games and long talks. Because we spent such intense time together, everyone found a place in my heart, and I miss them all deeply. Our days-off trips were great, and Alex and Marco kindly drove us to the bus. I truly recommend this amazing place to anyone who loves nature and warm people.

Working hours were always fun and as agreed on and the entire property is very clean and cozy. La Comarca is truly a magical place. One of the best two weeks of my life. It's in a gorgeous location (about 40 minutes away from Quepos/the lodge by bus) with a river nearby, and insane natural beauty everywhere. Our tasks were reasonable, and divided very fairly every day. The best part was the family I made there, people I will stay connected to for the rest of my life! Cooking and eating meals together, doing our tasks, and going on adventures was SO FUN. The rooms are small, but still quite comfortable! Alex and Marco are great hosts, a perfect first volunteer opportunity for me:)

Arrival orientation
Upon arrival, the group will be picked up at Quepos Bus Station or Quepos Airport with a pre-arranged transfer to ensure a smooth arrival process. The driver will be easy to identify with a yellow Epic Trip sign. In most cases, they will be taken directly to the project with no layovers. Upon arrival, a brief introduction to the program will be provided to help travelers settle in and get familiar with the experience ahead.
About the project
Our host, Alexander, is an Argentinian traveler who has spent the past four years in Costa Rica, drawn by its natural beauty, surf culture, and sustainable lifestyle. With a background in hospitality and entrepreneurship, he created this project as a way to give back to nature and the local community. The land where the glamping site now stands was once deforested for banana plantations, harming biodiversity. Today, Alexander is on a mission to restore the area, create local job opportunities, and build a space where travelers can connect with nature and each other. Inspired by The Lord of the Rings, he named the project La Comarca, a peaceful haven where people live in harmony with their surroundings. His goal is to not only be a great host but to offer an experience that leaves a lasting impact on both travelers and the environment.
