Honeydew eco-community
Honeydew is a pioneering eco-community, leading a movement to change how we live together. At Honeydew you will meet other young people who dream of building a different world, based on creative & cooperative principles. We have formed a network of sustainable communities sharing knowledge, resources, and personnel, and our model is scalable: already we have a dozen new projects in Brazil, ranging from organic coffee and cacao to bioconstruction and agroecology. Honeydew is a very special place, with beautiful grounds and views across the valley. I volunteered here for two weeks during the quieter winter period, alongside a small group of lovely residents and international volunteers. I have made many good memories during my time here and have enjoyed contributing to community life, especially through cooking together.

The location and house are truly astonishing and both residents and volunteers were kind and loving people. The tasks consisted on cooking and cleaning, as well as taking care of the chicken and the land surrounding the property.
I missed the agricultural part of eco-community, as well as practical opportunities to learn about ecology and sustainability. I was there in the quieter season, so there were very few activities going on.
Overall, it was a good experience to live surrounded by nature and meet both locals who visited the community and international travellers.

Since the moment I stepped in I felt the coziness, welcoming and love from the place and the people in it. It felt like home. I had the space, time, equipment and all the necessary to develop my cooking skills, which I’m very greatful for and enjoyed a lot sharing it to the group and connecting with them through it also 🤍. I met amazing people, full of love and always supporting each other, without judgement. Tasks very well organized. I’m very happy and grateful for finding this place and my time here. Excited to come back ❤️🥹Love you all and thank you for this amazing experience.

Before going, I kept reading the comments and thinking, "What made everyone love this place so much?" Then I went, and now I know... it's literally a family. Everyone is very welcoming and always willing to help. The foundation of this project is a great love among the volunteers. Forever in my heart!
