Detalhes
The Animal Photography Program in Tanzania is a unique opportunity to combine creativity, travel, and advocacy. With the guidance of professional photographers, you’ll develop technical skills in camera use, composition, and editing. But more importantly, you’ll become a storyteller and advocate for animals.
Your fieldwork will take you into urban areas, farms, and local communities, where you’ll observe and document the realities of farm animals, stray animals, and, when possible, birds. This is not about rescue or staged photos, it’s about capturing authentic moments that show the relationship between people and animals in Tanzania. You will talk to community members, take notes, and turn what you see into powerful images and stories that raise awareness.
Alongside photography, you’ll explore visual storytelling, combining your photos with writing to shed light on animal welfare issues and inspire empathy. Selected works may be featured in exhibitions and competitions, giving your voice and perspective a broader reach.
Beyond the lens, the program offers cultural immersion. You’ll engage with Tanzanian traditions, conservation practices, and community values, gaining insight into how culture shapes animal welfare.
This program is designed for aspiring or experienced photographers who want to use their skills for impact. By the end of your stay, you won’t just have improved your photography, you’ll have contributed to a growing movement of documenting animal welfare realities and turning them into advocacy for change.
Atividades & Turnos
Week 1 – Urban Fieldwork
Learn photography basics, join a city walk to document stray animals, visit a local NGO or clinic, and attend a talk on urban animal welfare. Editing and writing sessions help shape your first stories.
Week 2 – Farm Animals
Visit small farms, dairy, and poultry units while learning about farming practices from an expert. Develop your photo projects, practice storytelling, and refine your editing and captions.
Week 3 – Communities & Working Animals
Meet Maasai or Meru communities, explore Lake Duluti, and document working animals like donkeys and oxen. Expert talks and group editing sessions guide you in building narratives.
Week 4 – Final Project & Exhibition
Select your best photos, write captions, and prepare them for a mock exhibition. An expert session focuses on advocacy through photography, followed by outreach activities, group reflection, and a closing ceremony with certificates.
Our aim is to help you document authentic animal welfare realities in Tanzania, grow empathy in your heart, and become an advocate for animals. Through photography and storytelling, you’ll learn to capture moments that inspire awareness, compassion, and change.
