The Animal Photography Internship in Tanzania, organized by Voices for Animal Welfare (VFAW), combines wildlife photography, editing, and visual storytelling to promote animal welfare and conservation advocacy with a professional photographer. This program is designed for aspiring photographers and storytellers who want to use their skills to create impactful campaigns that raise awareness about animal welfare challenges.

The weekly contribution of 68 USD covers:
- Accommodation
- Three vegetarian meals per day
- Transport in our shared vehicle during project activities
- NGO fee
Please note that this is an approximate cost, as expenses may vary slightly (except the NGO fee). All costs are shared among team members and managed collectively through our shared team cashier.

Programa detallado
Participants will:
- Work with professional photographers and animal welfare experts.
- Capture wildlife during safaris and community outreach programs.
- Develop visual campaigns and photo exhibitions to inspire change.
In addition, participants also serve as volunteers supporting the community. Activities may include:
- Organizing vaccination campaigns.
- Engaging with the community to promote awareness of animal welfare through education and advocacy.
Please note that these activities may vary.
Actividades & Turnos
Morning (9:00 AM – 2:00 PM):
- Hands-on photography training in the field.
- Capture images of farm animals, pets, wildlife, children, and veterinaries and students at work.
NB: Wildlife is not visible everywhere in Tanzania — it can only be observed in specific locations such as national parks and protected areas. While wildlife trips are part of our program plans, please note that they involve additional costs.
Afternoon (3:00 PM – 5:00 PM):
- Editing workshops and project development.
- Prepare photo exhibitions and short documentaries.
- Review work with mentors for constructive feedback.
Evening:
- Relax at the lodge with bar and swimming pool or join cultural activities.
Weekends:
- Safaris to Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.
- Optional excursions like hot springs and cultural tours.
Reglas
Participants must be 18 years or older at the start of the program and intermediate in English to ensure effective communication. Proof of rabies vaccination is mandatory before arrival but can be submitted later once the application is approved. Applicants must submit details of any medical conditions and confirm they are fit to travel. Comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, accidents, and repatriation is required for the entire duration of the program.
