Bigstyle is a great place to enjoy nature and get to know the countryside of Ireland. Everyone in the lodge was very kind, welcoming and ready to help. I feel the experience depends a lot on the weather and the other volunteers. The weather determines if you can go outside, surfing or on trips. It is very remote and you have to hitchhike to the closest cities. You get food on the weekends(it is amazing), but no breakfast during the week(should be corrected on the profile). The room for the volunteers isn't very welcoming but these are the only negative things I can find. Cool place & people!

Before coming to Bigstyle I was reading all the reviews, from previous volunteers, and I could not believe that this experience was that good. However, it was even better!!! First of all, thank you to the amazing staff, that made us feel like home, I only have good words for all of them. All the people that we met were amazing and were always trying to help you. The chores were really easy, so that we had a lot of free time to surf. Moreover, the environment surrounding the lodge is extremely beautiful. I will always recommend it to anyone who is looking forward to surf, you won't regret it!!

I had such an amazing time at the lodge!! Ally and Griffin are lovely and super nice managers, always listening and the tasks were very clear and fun to do. The place is just beautiful, it's great if you want to surf and enjoy the nature! It's very remote so it's important to plan your trip there ;)

Es una experiencia increíble. No tienes que trabajar más de lo que indican y el trato es inmejorable ya que están ahí para resolver cualquier duda que tengas y si quieres mejorar en el surf recibes infinidad de consejos de los monitores que saben mucho. Cuentan contigo para todo y te consultan las cosas buscando que estés lo más cómodo posible. Tienes a tu disposición todo el material (tablas, neoprenos, sauna...) y puedes hacer varias actividades como surf, rutas, dar paseos...

Volunteering at the hotel has been so far one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Everything from the beginnig till the end was simply perfect and if I would try to find something I did not like about this experience, I would not find anything, honestly. Everyone who works at the lodge is simply amazing, I felt welcomed from the day one and everyone from the staff is always trying to make you feel comfortable and appreciated. I could not recommend enough this volunteering experience. I loved every single second of this experience and I hope to be back soon!

Spectacular spot!! Such an incredible experience surrounded by beaches, hikes, and all the sheep! Kenji is the cutest kid around, lots of energy to keep you on your toes!! Tons of fun events, the most amazing volunteers, you just really have to take the initiative to get out and do things .. access to surfboards and the sauna are great perks :) Must know … there is no public transportation, and you are pretty isolated from town, food, and shops. Without a car, you rely on hitching, walking or asking for a ride if it works for the workers! Great time :) !!!

The lodge's stunning rural setting and breathtaking ocean views made it a unique and inspiring place to be. Us volunteers were involved in a range of activities like cooking, cleaning, and serving delicious food for the guest. Highlights such as bonfires, going surfing to the nearby beaches, and enjoying live concerts and karaoke nights with everyone:) However at busy times, it sometimes felt like there was a lack of communication and clear guidance, which could led to confusion. But even when issues arose, the hosts were always approachable making it easy to work through challenges together!

My experience at the Lodge was incredible, it is a perfect place to connect with nature, you become very close with the volunteers, going for a walk, surfing, playing board games, going to the bar for some pints, you make very good friends. The tasks are quite fun and easy, the food is delicious, the owners and workers are very attentive, whenever you want you can go surfing by borrowing the equipment, as well as the sauna and jacuzzi! Thank you for this amazing opportunity! PS: I am now an expert surferrrr :)

The BigStyle Lodge is very remote, but due to this, the volunteers become very tightknit and like a second family. If you want to get out of the area on your days off, you can hitchhike into town and use TFI from there. The owners and staff at the lodge are really wonderful, communicative, and you can tell they genuinely care for the volunteers. They da great job making the volunteers feel included and comfortable coming to them for any type of help. Helping at the BigStyle Lodge has been an amazing memory and I will miss everyone I got the opportunity to meet! I highly recommend BigStyle :)

Staying at the hotel was one of my favourite life experiences so far! Being in the middle of nowhere in a cozy lodge with beautiful nature and people gave me so much peace of mind. The staff is very caring, kind & fun to be around. The work is very doable and often fun to do with fellow volunteers! Loads of time to explore the area, go hiking, go surfing, do arts & crafts, play games and bond with the fellow volunteers :) Would recommend staying at least a month. In short: I've never been so sad to leave a place <3 will be back!
