I really enjoyed my stay here and met amazing people during my time. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which created a really good atmosphere. The work is physical, not long, but quite intense , so be prepared for that. On your days off, you can explore the surroundings like osaka or other cities, although in the city of Takamatsu itself there isn't much to do. Overall, it was a great experience!

It was great meeting Chizuru and the staff at the hostel. The tasks were as described with 20 hours a week of laundry/cleaning/making beds. I'm glad I got to learn some Japanese while volunteering here and I enjoyed becoming friends with the staff and fellow volunteers as well as exploring Takamatsu.

I had a great time at the hostel. The team is welcoming and the chef-made dinners were absolutely great - heavily discounted in exchange for help cleaning up, which seemed fair. I had the pleasure of meeting great volunteers, interacting with cool guests and working with a vibrant team in a lesser explored part of Japan. There were some days where the work went over the time that was detailed but this was not the norm and was only because of rain holding up laundry drying. We often finished early and had more time to explore. I recommend this host and hostel.

I loved my time at the hostel! The staff were all incredibly kind and made a genuine effort to get to know everyone, which made the experience feel truly welcoming. I met many wonderful people (staff, fellow volunteers, and hostel guests) and thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the local culture in a smaller part of Japan. The work could be a bit challenging at times, mostly because of the heat and the stairs, but everything else about the experience more than made up for it. I'd recommend it to anyone!

I'm so happy I got to stay and work at the hostel. The people are all so friendly and kind. They invited us volunteer to join them for a lot of stuff so we also got to see the local part of Japan. There's literally no pressure with the work as long as u do what should be done. I thought the work was pretty challenging but it was all because of the stairs (there's 5 floors) and working in the heat. I'd recommend anyone to stay here!

I absolutely loved my time here, from going out with the crew to cleaning days or even just chatting with the staff, Chizuru, Maki, Tamae, Hiro, Yasu and everyone were the absolute best! Enjoyed my time with the volunteers and guests too, always going out with new people meeting locals, practicing speaking Japanese, relaxing in the group space or eating Ryo's delicious dinner and everything in between, couldn't ask for a better experience and i will be back! i love the hostel

Volunteering at the hostel was fun! The work could be tiring at times, but the days off made up for it. The staff was friendly, and so were the other volunteers.

Chizuru was an excellent host. Herself and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hours and work expectations were as described and we often finished early if all tasks were complete. The hostel was in a good location and I enjoyed my time in Takamatsu.

I'm going to miss this place! I had an amazing experience and felt right at home. Staff is friendly and social, and I met many wonderful volunteers who have become close friends. The dorm I stayed in was comfy for my long stay. One small point for improvement: I noticed some staff members weren't as productive as the volunteers. During cleaning shifts, I often felt like I had to pick up the slack when paired with certain staff. That said, the workload is manageable, so it wasn't a huge issue for me. With three days off each week, it's a great balance of work and free time.Definitely recommend!
