Overall, my experience was positive, and I would recommend it. The property requires 20 hours of reception work, four five-hour shifts per week, in exchange for free housing (very reasonable). The Isla Verde location is just a 2-minute walk from the beach and has a pool. However, the hostel isn't as social as others I've stayed at, and I distinctly felt like an exchange employee, given that most of the staff is local & paid rather than volunteer. I sought an opportunity to meet new people and I primarily achieved this by making friends with guests, which the other employees didn't do much.

The hostel was a welcoming space that prioritizes cleanliness and guest satisfaction. During my stay, I enjoyed interacting with guests and learning to use the property management software. Exploring the hostel's operations was a valuable learning experience. Thanksgiving there felt like being part of a warm, embracing family. For an enriching Worldpackers stay in San Juan, this place with its exceptional staff is highly recommended and I would definitely come back again !

For my first Worldpackers experience, the hostel set the bar really high. Neri along with other staff such as Diana, Henry and Sara we're super awesome and excepting, and always willing to assist with anything I may have needed; from learning how to use the computer at reception, to putting the washing machine on the right settings, they were always super helpful. The location was also amazing and super close to a lot of local beaches, bars, and restaurants and the locals were super cool as well, and always willing to show me around.

The hostel was my 1st hostel experience as well as my 1st volunteer experience and I couldn't have asked for a better place. This is more of a party hostel so there's often a lot of young people to meet. If you're a solo traveler it's easy to do group activities via the hostel's group chat. The location is close to the beach and many restaurants. The work load is more than fair and they stay within the agreed hours. Work consisted of 4-5 hour shifts doing reception work. The volunteer room is nice and clean. Over all as a solo female I felt safe and welcomed. I would work with them again!

Volunteering at the hostel was a great experience! I built great connections with people and became a bit more social. It is a very open and laid back atmosphere, but work still got done. Everyone was welcoming and so helpful. I volunteered at both locations and severely enjoyed the pool. Like every hostel experience, there are always little things to improve. I loved it so much, I decided to extend. I have learned so much at the hostel, including patience and working with challenging people. I highly recommend!

My stay at the hostel was incredible! The property itself cannot be beat (Isla Verde), which you will also hear from many travelers coming through as well. The work overall was very collaborative and you would help out where needed. Some times I would be working reception and other times I would be sweeping or folding laundry. I learned a lot about what it takes to run a hostel as this was my first Worldpackers experience and first time staying at a hostel. This is a great place to meet other travelers and practice your Spanish. I would definitely come back and work with Neri again!
