What can I say, having travelled to over 40 countries, staying at 100s of hostels, this may be one of the best I've ever stayed at! Working here was phenomenal, the team are amazing and so caring. Hours are fair and breaky and dinner is always of such a high quality, volunteers also have the nice touch of staying in a house a few blocks away which gives you that extra space sometimes needed for some R&R. If you are sociable / fun person who likes to meet new people then this is the place you want to volunteer, just make sure you have your days off on a Wed or Sat free cocktails though 😂

I had a nice experience volunteering at puerto the hostel. The work was really diverse which i liked. It's a really social hostel, i got to meet so many nice people!! And the breakfast and dinner is really good everyday.

During my stay, I noticed that the double standards between men and women in this hostel are extremely high and also in my time there lead to a negative work atmosphere. I can only recommend to work there for the other volunteers and especially the kitchen and cleaning staff that give the hostel it's heart and soul! Because they, and also the beautiful and magical town, where the reason why I extended my stay for 5 weeks :)

I left early because my physical health was bad AND: 1. The volunteer house is a trashed and abandoned old hostel with a few bunk beds. It currently has no working plumbing or drinking water and is a 5+ minute walk from the hostel. I hope they fix the water issue soon, but the fact that the owner made the volunteers move to a place in that state speaks volumes. 2. sometimes your shift ends at 11pm or 1am and it's not a safe walk back in the dark, especially if you're a female volunteer. 3. Felt like I was putting in more than I was getting out. Thanks for the opportunity, just not for me.

Originally planned on staying for 3 weeks ending up extending for another week, incredible hostel to meet people and make great friends, the actual tasks weren't too hard for the most part and you have some quality free time to yourself, the food was fantastic however the volunteers have to sign up for dinner like the guests and eat last which was a bit annoying at times, the house where the volunteers stay at is a bit run down but it's apparently being dealt with now, the best part is bonding with the other volunteers and some of the staff, truly made some lifelong friends here.

Such a great experience Had an amazing time in the hostel The staff team is so welcoming and nice The works hours allows you to also enjoy your day in san cristobal The hostel is really nice with always nice activities you can join with ghe volunteer team 100% recommand :)

El hostel es sin duda el mejor voluntariado que he hecho! Extendí 1 semana mas y volvere como huesped en un mes! No puedo estar mas agradecida del trato, las condiciones y sobretodo el staff y los voluntarios con los que he podido compartir la experiencia! Sin duda pienso que tanto como voluntario como huesped es el mejor lugar de San Cristobal sin lugar a dudas! Si estas pensando en voluntariar en Mexico... aplica ya porque son excepcionales! Todas y cada una de las personas que hay alli lo hace un lugar magico! Y muchas de ellas quedan en mi ❤️

This was a very nice experience to me. I got to know a lot of new people. The job was very easy that did not require any serious training. As a volunteer you do not share a room with the guests, but you share a house with other volunteers few blocks away from the hostel. In general it was a good experience.

The hostel is incredible. Loved all of the staff. The town is wonderful. I had a great time with my fellow volunteers and would highly recommend to others. The hostel itself is so good I am staying an extra week as a guest!

¡el hostel ha sido una estancia increíble! Diana, Val, Rebe y Kim siempre están dispuestas a ayudar y siempre te recibirán con una sonrisa. Me llevo una excelente experiencia, hice amistades de otros países (que llevaré siempre en mi corazón), la comida que ofrecen es 10/10 y si te gusta la fiesta es el lugar indicado. Fue mi primer voluntariado y no me arrepiento. Es un lugar en donde pondrás en práctica tu inglés todos los días. Las tareas son fáciles y se respetan los horarios, los voluntarios vivimos en una casa aparte del hostal y es muy céntrica. ¡Lo recomiendo!
