Fantastic experience! Annie, Pete, and everyone at the guest house are all incredible and kind people who make you feel right at home. They go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable and included. The tasks vary, as there is always something to be done, and there is flexibility. I learned quite a lot about the traditional Irish dance and music, which was an awesome cultural immersion. The house was a tad cold, since it was winter time, but manageable in my opinion. My experience at the guest house will forever be in my heart. Thank you for everything!

I don't think the place has the minimum conditions of habitability. The house is basically in semi-ruins. Everything is very dirty and dusty. The kitchen is basically unhealthy. The bedroom is messy (that's the least of it), but it's also quite dirty. And the jewel in the crown is the bathroom. It has no ceiling and the walls are full of green mould up to waist height (there are cleaner stables). In short, when I saw that, I left.I feel sorry for Gus, because he seemed like a very nice guy, but I don't think that house is habitable.

It clearly states in the description that part of the house is still under renovation. It's not perfect but that is the reason we receive volunteers We receive many volunteers, if you look back at the reviews you'll see how many people have given us 5 star reviews and had a fantastic time here. I'm sorry it didn't suit you, but your opinion is not everybodys

We would strongly advice people not to go there! The water has dangerous amounts of lead in it, the food is all expired, dirty and mouldy. Our accommodation was awful, the room was very dusty and full of spiders, the sheets were very dirty and there was black mould on the walls and ceiling. There was mildew and blood stains on the mattress, duvets/ pillows. The only good part about our trip was meeting all the wonderful volunteers there, and the nature was beautiful too. We didn't even last 3 days before getting terribly sick.We were mislead by all the positive reviews so we need to be honest.

The water is safe, it doesn't have more lead in it than the average city house. You also didn't voice any of your concerns to us so that we could help you fix them. You did zero work and then faked a migraine and snuck out of the house without telling anyone. Most people who come here are clearly hardier than you and love it, hence the positive reviews.

A very enriching experience. Annie, Pete and Gus are simply the best. They will make sure to include you in their cultural and very enjoyable activities. Both Annie and Pete are well-informed people, so you can talk to them about a lot of things and learn too. I always felt like I was surrounded by nice people, family and friends. Everyone who frequents the house. I totally recommend this position, especially if you like dancing, music and nature.

My period was in Nov/Dec, it was a challenge for me to get used to the cold inside the house, especially my room, but electric blankets, duvets and clothes were provided and the dining room was always warm and for group interaction. It's a historic country house, it's like traveling back in time and it can be a little difficult for those who aren't used to farms, but it's an enriching experience that added a lot to my trip! ✨️ The people are kind, everyone welcomed me and was available for my needs. I had a lot of leisure time. I hope to see you guys in the summer! Thank you!!! 🫶

Annie and Pete were amazing hosts throughout our whole experience! Definitely went out of our comfort zone however, we believe that is essential for growth and learning. We will miss the amazing dances and yummy soups :) Wishing all your family and Juno all the best for the rest of year. Cheers from Tassie!

Annie, Pete and Gus are absolutely fantastic people! They will make sure that you have everything you need and make you part of the family. They will teach you how to Irish/Scottish country dance in their free time, cook a delicious soup or curry for meals and there will be an array of jobs to be done so you wont get bored. We had a wonderful experience here, we gained a lot of knowledge on Irish culture and sustainable living! However doing this experience you will need to step quite far out of your comfort zone as their way of living is not for everyone, the house is large, cold and dusty.

We want to say the biggest thank you to Annie, Pete and all of their family and friends for making the guest house and Ballinrobe feel like home. The Work was a breeze, Some jobs were obviously harder than others but nothing strenuous. The house is beautiful, a tad cold in the later months but absolutely wonderful. And the best part of all is the music and dancing ofcourse. At least 3 times a week we were invited to an outing of sorts, either a music session in the local pub or in Galway or dance nights held at the house. We would highly recommend and can't wait to return.

This is my first volunteer and I couldn't be more gratefull. I was scared becose this is my first time that traveling alone to another country, but Annie and Pet, and everybody in the house, make you feel part of their family. The task are easy and you are working whit other volunteers, so you have time to enjoy the culture and the nature. You can meet people from different countries and see films or play cards whit them. If you are doubtfull about coming here, don't think too much and just do it, because you won't regret it. This house is pure love!
