Teach English in Vietnam!

Its my first time volunteering as an English teacher and I must say that I enjoyed it. I have no teaching experience specially with kids, but with the students that I handle they made it easier for me. It's not everyday a walk-in a park but most of the days are amazing.I will forever cherish the experience. They even gave me some souvenirs when I leave. Mr Ty is the host and I find him like a father figure. He takes care of his volunteers very well. He took me to different restaurants to try different Vietnamese food and I absolutely love it. Till next time, farewell for now :) Cảm ơn

I didn't quite know what to expect as Hong Ngu is a really small city. The centre is at one end of the city; but its within walking distance to the town center. It seems like all the students in the city study at the school Ac Centre. Its always buzzling with students from 8am. Am amazed by the commitments of both the students (ranging from 5 to 26 years old) and Ty. The facilities at the centre are very basic but that did not deter the enthusiasm of the students to learn. The accommodation is not luxurious; but the essentials are there & Ty is there to make sure i was comfortable & well fed!

Eve is really a kind teacher, great English and full enthusiastic, in spite of her short time stayed with center, she supported our student a lot of things, spoke English many levels at our center. She also gave us some foods from Singapore and so delicious!
Many thanks and hope to see you next year

I spent two weeks at the centre in Hong Ngu and really enjoyed my time there. The host was fantastic, I felt very cared for. We ate three delicious meals every day with snacks, coffee and coconut water available all day. The working hours were manageable with good breaks throughout the day. The students were lovely and I really enjoyed talking to them and learning about their lives and the local area. Strong internet connection meant I was able to stay in touch with family and friends and also complete work while I stayed here. The accommodation was very basic, but something I got used to.

My bf and I stayed at Mr. Ty's center for 2 weeks. We had a room with AC, good food, & flexible working hours. (always fresh bananas to snack on!) We loved talking to the energetic and friendly students for 3-4 hours a day (different students & levels). Mr. Ty took us to eat delicious hotpot and at a local restaurant twice - Yum! My bf played football with him and the locals every day, and we all played tennis together one weekend! The area is safe for foreigners to walk despite the many confused looks, and there is a market 1km away. Mr. Ty is also a fantastic host - Thank you so much!

(Max 600 characters, so I'll keep it short!) This was my first time volunteering, and it's an experience I'll remember! I have lots of good things to say about both Ty and the students! First, Ty is a great guy! The moment I arrived, I was welcomed with a smile and some delicious Vietnamese food - this became a recurring theme during my whole stay. The students are also a cool bunch, and I had lots of fun teaching them. I miss some of them already, so I might have to apply again some time! There was a lot of work, more than expected, but I liked it, and I will remember my days here fondly!

Mr. Ty is a one-man band man! He does absolutely everything and somehow manages to do everything brilliantly. Expect amazing home-cooked, local food, fresh coconut snacks and tiny vietnamese bananas every day! But even more than that, expect to fall in love with the students, their energy and their passion to learn and grow! There are children from 7 years old all the way to working adults and they all come together to learn. There's lots of work because there are many students and not many teachers, but the experience and the exchanges you'll have with everyone are truly rewarding!

This was my first volunteering experience and it has definitely been an amazing experience. The students are wonderful and so enthusiastic, helping them learn English was really fun. The host Ty is a warm and welcoming person, he even cooked some good meals. The food in countryside is limited but tasty :) I would also recommend exploring nearby areas, I enjoyed going to Nui cam.

I had an incredible two weeks at the center! I couldn't be more grateful for my experience. In particular, Mr Ty was an amazing host, he is very kind and always wants to make sure you are happy with everything. The local food was delicious and Hong Ngu is a great city where you can immerse yourself into the Vietnamese culture. The kids are extremely welcoming, friendly and very enthusiastic to learn english, it was a pleasure to spend two weeks with them, i wish I could've stayed longer. Thanks again for everything and i hope to return again some day soon.

Mr Ty is the best host one could ever ask for- and I'm saying this as a first time WorldPacker! Imagine just how brilliant an experience he must have created! He was supremely accommodating, very kind, and paid close attention to the volunteers' happiness. Hong Ngu is a small town near the Cambodia border and as such the locals haven't seen foreigners or interacted with them much. Which trust me, absolutely adds to your experience there. It's the perfect place for you to immerse yourself in the Vietnamese culture. It's a close knit & fun loving community, it's been a pleasure knowing them.

Thanks Ms Medha a lot. You are very kind and good teacher. Although you stayed with us in short time but we had many memories in the center, pub, tennis court, ... you also often supported me something about English, some kids asked me where were you? when did you come back, .... once more thanks for your support
