It was a really good experience to go through. The host she is no nice, and the work is easy, you get all the instructions you need (i learned a lot of new stuff for real). The neighborhood was quiet and friendly…. Overall you get time to explore the city and to enjoy the Malaysian experience.

My experience with Shyam was not ideal. Expectations were unclear, and I often found it hard to get support. Shyam was occasionally unavailable, and when present, the tone was not always encouraging. There were also moments of tension within the team due to negative comments about other volunteers. Additionally, the commute from Shyam’s home was time-consuming, making it difficult to manage schedules. I would recommend future volunteers to carefully consider their expectations.

We appreciate Ellie’s time with us but encountered challenges with volatile behavior, food waste & disrespect toward a fellow muslim volunteer. Her actions did not reflect the words on her profile, was selective & pleasant only when things went her way. These actions did not align with our values of respect, inclusivity, and dynamics of our org & as a professional space. To avoid further conflict, we had asked them to leave earlier than agreed.

It was our first volunteer and the experience was unique.
The Yellow House is a serious social project trying to improve needy's people life.
Shyam, the president ahead of it is an wonderful person with a big heart, strong personality and great ideas and she got us closer to the community, meeting great people and having delicious food 😜.
We strongly recommend everyone to join YH team and help on this amazing social project.

Being part of Yellow House was one of the best experiences I could have had during my first volunteering period. The project is serious and, apart from the beautiful history it has already written, it has a great and bright future.
As well as immersing myself in the local culture and learning about soil cultivation and gardening, I was welcomed with open arms by the project's president, Shyam, a creative, strong woman, full of ideas and deeply welcoming. The other volunteers I met are dedicated and have also embraced the cause.

Shyam is a great leader who is friendly and ambitious. She cares truly about everyone around her and she is easy to get on with. Due to circumstances beyond her control, I stayed in accommodation that was close to our site but not the most ideal due to unfortunate hosts. I do not hold this against Shyam at all though as she agrees the accommodation isn't ideal. She even offered us the opportunity to stay at her own home.
The land we were working on has true potential to help the community.
I do truly wish the best for Yellow House and it's goals, keep up the great work!
