I volunteered at Turoqua for 2 months with my friend Feyza. Overall it has been a good experience, and I am happy I decided to go. It was great for developing social -, work - and language skills, both english and spanish. The location of the hostel is right in the old town of Pontevedra, so it is surrounded by lively bars and restaurants, which gives you great opportunity to talk with the locals!
Work wise, there is a lot of responsibility when you are only one or two volunteers working there, alongside with Sonia of course, but I have learned a lot when it comes to hospitality!

My stay at Turoqua was a great learning experience. You get to meet people from all over the world, and actually end up getting a lot of new friends. You do however have a lot of responsibility, and the expectations are quite high since the only people working there is the Worldpackers and the host. But overall it was a great stay in a very beautiful and interesting city😻

My experience in Pontevedra has been quite different from what I was expecting. The place is a small hostel of 20 beds - one of which was mine. Staying there in August, the hostel was always full and the city very busy. I was the only volunteer and I run tasks of both cleaning and reception. At first the amount of working hours exceeded a lot the one agreed - I had to talk to Sonia to rearrange things, so that I eventually could finish my month there. In any case the workload overall felt to me more like a job, which might be good for skill development but honestly not for a volunteering.
