Volunteering at the Lighthouse has been one of the highlights of my trip and was an amazing experience! The work is very versatile and fun and there is a lot of freedom to choose your own project to work on. After work there is plenty of free time to enjoy the island and hang out. The atmosphere at the Lighthouse is amazing and very social so everyone feels like family. Curtis is a great host and is always taking time to listen to everyone’s opinions and creates an environment that makes work fun and includes everyone! Also the food that we got to eat is amazing! I would 100% recommend!!

Volunteering at The Lighthouse was one of most meaningful experiences of my travels. From the first days, the place felt like a beautiful, breathing community. I made friends I’ll carry with me. We shared meals daily (chef Myo is wonderful), worked side by side, learned a lot from each other, and held space for both the beautiful and challenging moments of communal living. The work is fair and varied, and you truly feel like what you do matters. Curtis is an incredible, caring and admirable person whose presence shapes the heart of this place. Leaving was really hard, which says everything.

You arrived with such openness, care, and presence, and you helped shape the very feeling you describe here. The way you showed up in the work, in community, and in the quiet in-between moments mattered more than you probably realize.

You brought warmth, steadiness, and heart into this place, and the connections you formed here are a reflection of the way you meet people and life. The Lighthouse is better because you were part of it. I hope our paths cross again when the timing is right :)
