Quinta da Bela Pedra

You're not just joining a project; you're becoming part of a unique and fulfilling journey.

As an older woman traveling the world, cooking, writing, and now transforming an abandoned farm in Portugal, I offer a distinctive experience that blends creativity, adventure, and community.

Here, you'll find a perfect balance of meaningful work and leisurely exploration.

Whether you're passionate about sustainable farming, intrigued by the process of revitalizing a historic property, or simply looking for a peaceful retreat in the picturesque Portuguese countryside, this volunteer opportunity is tailored for you.

Plus, you'll have the chance to immerse yourself in the local culture, learn new skills, and enjoy delicious homemade meals. :)

I grew up on a farm and wanted to be a farmer one day. Unfortunately, at that time, women were not accepted into agricultural college. I went into teaching instead, but that dream…that dream…that dream never left me. I'm a seasoned traveler and author who has spent years exploring the world, cooking up culinary delights, and sharing my adventures through books and videos. My passion for life and storytelling is matched only by my dedication to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all my volunteers. You'll have the freedom to contribute your ideas and talents, and we'll provide guidance and encouragement every step of the way. Whether you're helping with farm tasks, assisting in the kitchen, or simply sharing stories over a cup of tea, you'll be part of a close-knit community that values your contributions and celebrates our collective achievements. Together, we'll make this farm a thriving haven of creativity and connection.

Our stay at Cindy’s farm was a very unique and unforgettable experience. Despite having no practice with farm life, there was always something for us to do. Although Cindy was unexpectedly busy with work, she made sure that we felt welcomed. She wasn’t at all pushy - we helped around as much as we wanted to, and had enough free time to enjoy the farm 🐷🐈🍊 Cindy is also an INCREDIBLE cook; we ate like queens even though one of us doesn’t eat meat.

Tip for your stay: if you’re planning to come in the winter time, expect it to get quite cold at nights. Thankfully, Cindy warned us in advance,

Cindy was a wonderful host, we had a great time hanging out when work for the day was through, she took me to see many places and showed me local markets and made me yummy food.. I have the best memories of sunsets on the rocks & laughing with Cindy in the kitchen. The animals are so sweet.. and sleeping in a tent in the olive grove was quite a treat to reconnect with nature and take a break from being a tourist in Portugal. I hope to visit again some day!

Cindy was super nice and welcoming! I loved hearing stories from all of her adventures around the world. The vibes on the farm were laidback and relaxing but at the same time taught me about farm life, taking care of animals, and living off grid. Cindy is also an awesome cook so the food was always good! This experience is good for anyone who wants to get away from busy cities and just connect with nature.
