I enjoyed my time at Hostel PTM! I felt lucky to learn the ropes of the restaurant and meet incredible people (shoutout Cleiton!) while exploring the Algarve! Working in the restaurant was rewarding, but difficult at first, as you are expected to jump right in without formal training. Expect to be on your feet for 6 hours/day with a 20 min break and a €20/week grocery budget. Our host, Ana, had excellent recommendations and was inclusive volunteers in her plans. While she is receptive to feedback, volunteers need to be comfortable advocating for themselves. Thanks for a beautiful summer, Ana!

I had a great time at PTM. The hostel itself feels very clean and professional, the team were all very welcoming too. The tasks were overall as described, as were the hours. I worked reception and did the same hours everyday, which allowed for most of the afternoon and evening to enjoy exploring the beautiful Algarve. The only potential downside was occasionally having to check guests in outside of work hours if they arrived late, but I was happy to do this. Overall, I have a lot of respect for Ana and the business she is running. Thank you for having me! :)

I want to thank Ana, her family, and the permanent staff for the amazing experience I had with PTM Downtown—it truly felt like a home away from home. Ana is a fantastic host, respectful of work hours, and often let us finish early a few days a week. She gave great tips on what to do in the Algarve and made sure we had what we needed. Volunteers get a weekly grocery budget, so you can cook your own meals. The shared space was cozy but had all the essentials. I already miss the other volunteers and staff. This was my first Worldpackers experience, and it has set the bar high. Obrigada!

I spent 6 weeks at PTM working in the cafe and really enjoyed it, the hours were as listed, the staff is lovely (honorable mention to Cleiton, the permanent staff in the cafe, he is so kind, patient, respectful and really cared for us all!) Ana was a great host, and really took us in as her own! She would always give recommendations, as well as invite us along to hangout with her friends! Ana is very understanding and as long as you can communicate anything you may think could be improved she is always right on it!! Truly a beautiful place with lovely people!

Fue mi primer experiencia como voluntaria y no podría haber elegido mejor. Pude aprender mucho sobre cafetería ya que era mi primera vez trabajando en un brunch, Ana & Cleiton hicieron que la experiencia fuera muy divertida! Portimão es una ciudad hermosa y muy tranquila, cerca de distintas ciudades y playas increíbles. En el verano suele haber muchos festejos por lo que pude sumergirme en la cultura local. Conocí personas increíbles que hicieron de este voluntariado una experiencia única. Obrigado familia PTM <3
