Pachamama's House

WELCOME TO PACHAMAMA'S HOUSE!

For us, each volunteer is treated as part of the family, we know how important it is to include them in all daily activities so, they can have a real intercultural experience of Mexican culture in every sense.

– THE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY –
As a volunteer with us, you have the opportunity to assist in many options like in a kindergarten, to assist with teaching English at the local Lija Community Center, and to help out with our rescued animals and Mother Earth at home.
We speak English and will guide you during your volunteer experience. Optionally, you will also have the opportunity to practice your Spanish in an encouraging environment at Pachamama's house, at the kindergarten, and at the Lija Community Center.
Note: You do not need to speak a word of Spanish to help as a volunteer.
At the kindergarten, you can assist in the classroom, supporting the teachers and playing with kids between 3 and 6 years old. Volunteers love helping and playing with the wonderful students at the very beginning of their education!
At Pachamama’s house, we have 11 cats, 2 dogs, and 7 birds, which we have rescued over the years. You can share your love of nature with us by helping us care for our rescued animals and supporting in organized beach clean ups.
The volunteer opportunities we provide can be mixed and matched and are explained in more detail in their respective sections (see links to our experiences below).

– LIVING AT PACHAMAMA’S HOUSE –
Our volunteer house is on the same latitude as Hawaii and enjoys nearly perfect weather year-round. Puerto Vallarta is a traditional Mexican city with beautiful beaches and mountains.
It is full of attractions, restaurants, and cultural activities.
Pachamama's house is located in a respectful community in the Brisas del Pacifico area of Puerto Vallarta and is shared by you, our family, and our rescue animals. There is a separate entrance to your space.
There are 3 different rooms for you to choose from. One shared room for up to two volunteers with a fan, one room with a/c, a TV, and a larger private room with a/c and a large TV. We all share 2 bathrooms and the living/kitchen area.
There is a good workspace, a reliable internet connection, and a respectful community surrounding you at your home in Puerto Vallarta.

– YOUR FREE TIME –
When you are not volunteering there are many things to do around us! Great local restaurants are in walking distance or a bus or Uber ride away. The main strip downtown and the closest beaches are 20-40 minutes away and visited regularly by our volunteers.
during your free time or on the weekends you may enjoy dancing, snorkeling, diving, kite surfing, paragliding, trekking in the mountains, visiting nearby towns or spending days on the unspoiled beaches.
We can make recommendations for tours and other activities based on your interests. We may also act as your guides and come with you to show you the best places! We ask that volunteers cover transportation and meals for those occasions.
If you would like to volunteer with us please let us know, we would love to get to know you and welcome you to the family!

HOW DOES THE CONTRIBUTION HELP AT PACHAMAMA´S HOUSE?

We contribute to delivering school materials, clothes and shoes, and medical assistance to children who live within vulnerable populations from low-income families.

For your contribution, you receive breakfast and lunch, Wi-Fi, laundry, permanent support, accompaniment, and guidance during the FIRST THREE DAYS to get to know the city.

Conchas Chinas beach and Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint.

– ABOUT US – We are Su and Vero. I (Vero) have been working with volunteers in Peru for 12 years through my NGO Peru Peru. I moved to Mexico 3 years ago to open a second volunteering location after meeting Su, who was a volunteer with me in Peru. Su has devoted her life to others, working as a doctor’s assistant in Puerto Vallarta for 20 years and now we run Pachamama’s house together! We speak fluent spanish and good english and have hosted volunteers from over 30 countries. We would love to get to know you in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico while you help our local community. We love having volunteers at home, they are a very important part of this organization, because without you none of this would be possible, we welcome the volunteers as part of our family and we include them in the daily activities so that they have a great cultural exchange to the maximum. and you can enjoy this wonderful experience.

Su & Vero were amazing hosts!!! They ensure you are comfortable & cared for while in their home. There is a good balance of time eating together, community work, and exploring the local areas/things to do. They are both so nurturing, funny, witty, curious, and open to connecting ~ you are safe in their care! :) I volunteered in PV and will for sure be going to their Peru location as well. So much more love, learning, & laughter to be had ♡

Sui and Vero were amazing hosts! From the moment they picked me up at the airport, they were incredibly warm and welcoming. They know Puerto Vallarta well and gave me great suggestions on places to visit. Volunteering at the cultural center was a highlight. The kids were kind and curious and interested in learning about me. The teacher there was also very friendly. Staying with Sui and Vero felt like family, I enjoyed home cooked meals and interesting conversations while eating. I’m grateful for the experience and plan for a visit with them the next time I’m in Vallarta.

Sui and Vero were fabulous hosts! They met me at the airport with big hugs. Life with them was authentic and engaging! Meal times were filled with good food and great conversation and we took several excursions around Puerto Vallarta, nature walks, sunsets at the beach, farmers markets and even a movie! Volunteering at the school was worthwhile and heartwarming. The kids accepted me and included me in spite of my limited Spanish. Classes at the community center were enjoyable and everyone was so welcoming. Highly recommend a homestay with Sui and Vero!

I had the most wonderful experience at Casa Pachamama- Su and Vero were fantastic. I’ve had other hosts on Worldpackers, and as I told Su and Vero, this was by far my favorite experience. You typically will volunteer from 3-6pm Mon-Thurs and 6-7pm Mon and Fri helping kindergartners with their daily tasks and ~12 year olds learn English. Seeing how happy and excited the kids were to learn about other cultures and interact with other volunteers was the happiest thing imaginable. The kindergartners will literally run right up to you with the biggest smiles and give you HUGE hugs. Go go go!!!
