Oyama Lake Eco Lodge
If you are into off-grid living you will love our lakeside lodge. We have 18 cabins, 6 glamping tents and a converted school bus. We also have a variety of boats including pontoon, motor boats, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and pedal boats. As a volunteer you are welcome to borrow any non motorized boat and explore the islands or sneak through a private channel that takes you to another lake!
We are friendly and eccentric people who love hosting all kinds of people from all over the world. When we have the time we also go on pontoon rides and eat meals together. We supply lots of fresh healthy groceries for your kitchen shared with other volunteers and staff members. Special diets are always accomodated as long as items are within a reasonable budget. If you have a sweet tooth there is an on-site store and we give a staff discount for anything purchased from the store including snacks, fishing supplies, swag, art and toiletries.
The accomodations for volunteers are three campers with an outdoor kitchen area, BBQ and bonfire pit. If it is earlier in the season and colder you will likely be put in a tiny cabin with a woodstove and will need to either know how to start a fire or willing to learn. In the early season we have less people so you will have more privacy and mid season there are more volunteers and less privacy, but also more social activities. We also offer bicycles, campfires, boardgames, outdoor games, an outdoor projector for movies and art supplies to use during your stay.
We are in a remote location so you must be ok with being surrounded by nature. Sometimes we are able to drop you off in Vernon or Kelowna on town days but it is never guaranteed. Sometimes other staff members bring a vehicle and then it is easier to get around on days off.
