Melaleuca House
We live on a beautiful 50-acre property - 3kms from Byron Bay - a small tea tree lake and a great variety of wildlife, e.g. wallabies, water fowl, kookaburras, echidnas, tawny frogmouths, water dragons, etc.
In fact, wallabies feed here every day :-)
You will live in a cool Airstream Caravan with shower, toilet, fast WIFI, fridge, microwave, hot water jug, etc.
The closest beach is 2km away and it is only a 10-15 min bike ride to the town center.
We provide a bike during your stay.
We will share with you our knowledge of the property and the adjoining Belongil Wetlands, Byron Bay's history and way of life.
It is a big property to look after, so we greatly appreciate a volunteer visit, usually for1-2 weeks. We are originally from Germany, hence speak English and German.
I live on the property with my wife and our dog - see photo.
We have had many helpers over the last 20 years and greatly enjoy getting to know people from different cultures and with their unique life experiences.
We hope that it will be a mutually enriching time.
While a volunteer makes their own breakfast at the Airstream, we usually have lunch (sandwiches) and dinner together at our house, plus many exciting conversations :-)
