Maritxu

My house is a very old house, it does not look sexy but many people, when they get in, feel something special...it is special, a 600 years old soul can only be special. I am 16 min from Biarritz airport, 10 min from the train station, 10 min from the ocean, with some of the best places to surf in Europe!! 1h away from the first ski resort in the Pyrenees, 30 min from the spanish border.

I will do all I can so that the volunteer will enjoy to stay here. I've been travelling myself quite a lot, I speak 4 languages fluently, 2 others on the learning curve. There is always an experience to share.

Maritxu is a very nice person who will make you feel welcome in her home. She has lived a very eventful and interesting live in multiple countries and therefore has a lot of interesting storys to tell and many fields of interest. She speaks many languages and can help you very well improving in them. The work is as described and can be a bit repetitive, which is just something you need to be aware of.
The village is very calm and quiet surrounded by nature and the coast is more touristic.
I wish Maritxu all the best with her renovation plans and the many more ideas she has.

Aprendí muchísimo con Maritxu sobre vegetación, construcción, carpintería y también sobre la cultura local, que es muy interesante y para mí, fue muy fructífero para entender la historia de la casa familiar de Maritxu y la localidad.
Además, por las tardes tuve mucho tiempo libre para conocer los lugares al rededor por mí cuenta y hay mucho por hacer, ya sea ir a la montaña o al mar, o simplemente probar la comida local.
Maritxu es una persona maravillosa, muy generosa y cocina muy rico!!
Súper recomendada esta experiencia y totalmente agradecida!

Maritxu was a great host, she not only took time to offer suggestions of where to go in many neighbouring towns in the Basque region but she took the time to help plan out days, so I could make the most of my time in France. She also takes time to make delicious meals preparing not only the main course but also desserts and salads so you are always well fed, even offering to show me how to make the local Basque Flan. She is very welcoming and easy to get along with. The work was mostly scraping glue off wood, and the house while older was cosy and clean, and I throughly enjoyed my stay.

We had fun exploring Basque France while staying and working with Maritxu. She gave us a lot of great cultural insight and we had a lot of interesting conversations over delicious lunches. The work was cleaning and sanding tiles, which wasn’t difficult but at times felt repetitive. The house is a work in progress as described in the listing, but Maritxu has always been up front about this and we can’t wait to see how the project goes.
